I chose Shahin Residence Hotel primarily for its convenient location, as I needed to be in Gulshan 1. The hotel's proximity to my destination was a big plus, and it was notably more affordable than other standard hotels in Gulshan.
One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast. There were plenty of options to choose from, catering to different preferences, and the quality was quite good. Cleanliness was another aspect that impressed me; the room was well-maintained, and I appreciated the provision of tea bags, coffee packets, and necessary ingredients along with an electric kettle for preparation.
However, there were a couple of aspects that left room for improvement. I found the rent for a non-AC single room to be on the higher side, especially considering the available amenities. At 1975 BDT, it felt somewhat expensive. Additionally, the absence of a boiled water option in the washroom was a disappointment, especially in this price range. I believe that adjusting the pricing to around 1200-1400 BDT for a single non-AC room would better align with the overall service offered.
In summary, Shahin Residence Hotel is a decent choice for its location, breakfast, and cleanliness. However, a reevaluation of room pricing and the inclusion of boiled water in the washroom would enhance the overall...
Read moreShahin hotel is a very old, affordable hotel which has been remodeled a few times. It is situated in one of the busiest hubs of Dhaka - Mohakhali, right on the opposite side of BCPS.
The hotel was neat and clean especially the bedsheets and the towel were satisfactory.
As for amenities, they gave disposable toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo. There's a tv with dish connection, not a smart tv. Internet works fine.
There are both AC and NON-AC rooms available.
I rented the non-ac single room. At the time of April 2024, the rent is bdt 1100, which is quite cheap.
Because it's situated right beside one of the busiest road of Dhaka, it's always noisy. They don't seem to have backup generator, in the time of load shedding, fan, light, wifi didn't work.
What disappointed me the most is washroom. well, at least it was clean enough and there was always clean water available.
overall, this is not a vacation hotel. It's for people who have some work to do in a nearby area and need a place to crash or a safe place to...
Read moreA lovely friendly introduction to Bangladesh (which was to become normal, having now travelled all the provinces over two weeks - so this was the start of a beautiful friendship with Bangla people). Handy central location in Mohakhali, not too far from the airport for arrival, easy to walk/cheap rickshaw from the more commercial areas of Banani/Gulshan, and then to continue to Old Dhaka/Sadarghat for an overnight launch. The room was fine, comfortable & clean enough, WiFi ok. Most important thing to mention, though, is to reiterate how nice the staff are. Thanks, guys, for helping my trip off & running with positive energy,...
