I was taking a training course in a conference center nearby, and I found this hotel online. It seemed ok for a 10-day stay. I was trying to escape the relatively pricey hotels in the Gulshan/Banani area. However, I left on this one on my first day, scared to death.||||The main problem was that, in the middle of the night, I woke up with the noise of the room door slowly opening. Luckily, I was only half asleep and could hear the noise. The lights were off, so I immediately turned on my cellphone light next to my pillow. Realizing that I was awake, that person quickly closed the door again. I was very scared, and I even thought that maybe it could have been only my impression, since I was almost asleep. But I got up and saw the door unlocked, which meant somebody really tried to get in the room while I slept. I was totally sure I had locked it before I went to bed. Whoever it was, it had the room key... or the hotel's master key.||||As a women staying alone in this hotel, God knows what would have happened if I were heavily asleep at that moment. I immediately called the reception and the gentlemen, who barely spoke English, said I could only be mistaken and that the hotel is "100% safe". I didn't receive any support at all. I tried to go back to sleep, spent a terrible night and left the next morning, as I didn't feel safe at all there. Later, talking to some Bangladeshi friends, they said that the hotel is reputed for being very dangerous and even a prostitution hot spot. ||||Besides, it desperately needs to be restored, as the halls and the rooms are very old and dusty. The fan in my room had only two modes: on (really strong!) and off. So I've never felt so hot and so cold in such a small period of time.||||To sum up, one of the most horrible hotel experiences I've had. I've stayed in other hotels in Bangladesh before, and I can say you should NOT even consider this one. I came straight here to write this review, to avoid that other travelers (specially women) go through such a...

Read moreI stayed on and off for about 2 months with my wife. I stayed here in the nineties and found that it had changed dramatically. I had the impression that the owner was not aware of what was happening. The staff seem to be overcharging customers as the price I was charged was way over what was advertised on their website. When I pointed this out to staff they said it was not inclusive of V.A.T. & room charges. They charged extra for the fridge, hot water ,t.v & room service. Also there were notices in the rooms regarding prices but these were tippexed over with dates showing about 5 years ago. Why don't they have recent prices? We realised it was a con by staff and asked for the manager and was put on to reception and the chap who booked us in claimed he was the manager. We realised he was lying but didn't cause a scene as I was with my wife. I sincerely hope the owner who lives in the u.k. reads this review one day and takes action, because he is losing business due to staff ripping...
