To say my wife and I were surprised is an understatement. A regular user of Youth Hostels in my youth this proved to be a really pleasant experience. The accommodation had been booked by my hosts for the four days of my stay and the double private room with en-suite shower and separate toilet was more than adequate. The continental breakfast on offer was again of reasonable quality with plenty of juices teas and coffees available. Whilst the hostel was fully booked for the first three days it was surprisingly quiet. That said we had an inward facing room on the second floor.||Okay things to remember are that whilst bedding is supplied; toiletries and towels are not offered for free, so it had been definitely worth checking on previous reviews to ensure we went prepared, although towels can be hired I believe. ||My only negative observation was that the sink was devoid of a plug and with water controlled by a push mechanism, having a face wash/shave it was a bit annoying pressing the tap every few seconds. Although again switching off every 20 odd seconds the shower was less of a problem and I understand the need to conserve water. ||As mentioned in previous reviews the staff were really friendly and helpful and being able to obtain a reasonably priced mid morning coffee was a bonus. Again the the hostel is well placed for walks into the City and the local buses are close on hand. We had a supply of 8 trip bus passes, which again were brilliant and each use is valid for an hour. ||To conclude if you are intending to use this accommodation go with an open mind as some previous reviews don't do the place or the...
Read moreI was a here with a group for a weekend. The hostel is 10' away from the city center and located inside an old monastery. There is place enough to park a car in the street, there is a good bakery, cheap grocery store (Colruyt) and some bars around in a fairly safe area. ||||The hostel has a huge capacity. Many rooms are for four persons and have their own (half open) shower and toilet. We had quiet nights, rooms were dark and clean. It lacks electricity sockets at each bed and the bunk beds are not superb but that was not really an issue. There is no free wifi in the rooms, but there is relatively ok wifi in the bar. The kitchen has all the basic stuff you need and quite some fridge area.||||The bar downstairs is great, there is also a pool table and more important a very nice private outside court. Breakfast was amazing (for a hostel) with bio-products and quite some food to offer. ||Personel was friendly and helpful (well, one more than another, that's how it goes in life). They have tips and offers for you. ||||So have no doubt, this is a good hostel.||||P.S. As can happen in any hostel, quite a lot of well labeled and stored food was stolen from the kitchen. Sadly their kitchen camera does actually not work (so they say) so I had to...
Read moreStayed here for 1 night in dorm room 620.||||I arrived at 10am, too early for check-in, but it was okay to leave my bag in the locker and go out to do my one day in Liege. The staff spoke decent English and there were no problems checking in after I came back.||||You have to take your own sheets and make the bed yourself. The dorm was a six bed room and each guest has their own locker. The locker is narrow, but tall and should easily fit a medium sized bag, plus a couple of jackets. The bunk beds were the metal frame variety, but surprisingly sturdy and I was not at all disturbed by bunk mates moving around. Each bed has their own USB port, power socket and a personal light. There's a guard that covers the head area and does a good job of blocking out some of the light.||||The hostels provides Wifi, which worked really well in the room and in the common areas. The common rooms had a mixture of couches and desk tables, plus some games. I think there was a pool table, a table football and a ping pong table. There’s also a kitchen where you could do some cooking with a microwave, oven or cooker.||||Reasonable breakfast options and excellent for...
