El Ben Cabanas and the experience was awesome. Pros- Service was off the charts. Harold was above accommodating. He saw my great dissapointment about the lack of beach opportunity and drove me around the island to show me other options. Even called a friend to allow me to see their private area to swim. Although nothing was truly a beach, his customer service was off the charts. The food and cook, deserves a round of applause. Everything and I mean everything was delicious, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Honestly everthing on the menu was perfect. Usually today cooks and chefs will cook to their bland audience and not consider preparing a dish as the locals prepare. But not at El Ben, the food and flavor superb. The Cabaña was very nice, I wouldn't say luxurious, but neat, simplistic, clean, and very very nice. Everyone was very accommodating. They put the capital S in Service.
Con- For a two bed cabana, the AC did not cool well at all. Although they tried to fix the room simply remained cool/warm instead of simply cool or cold. They did bring us a fan which sorta helped but not much. The pool area was having work done at the bar. The pool area did not have any umbrellas Maybe a small area to play games like corn hole, sand volleyball, or to sit and talk. Food is delicious, but a small fridge is needed for to go items The so called beach, was closed. I took this trip for my birthday and specifically for the beach. I did not get any parts of a beach and very dissapointed. Not the hotels fault, but still beyond dissapointed.
Total Experience El Ben is Fantastic, I would recommend anyone to stay here. Caye Caulker as a whole lacks of real beach, although an island. So its a future No for me. The people in Caye Caulker are beautiful and kind. But will not return to Caye Caulker again. Was looking for private or quiet beach experience. What I got was a quiet experience minus the beach. However, El Ben Service and Food worked beyond hard and made up for alot of what I didn't get on this birthday vacation.
Recommendation to El Ben- Your Bath Robes are awesome. Have a few on hand along with some coffee mugs w your name on them and sell them to your guest. I called to purchase a bath Robe, but your staff shared you...
Read more🚨BE AWARE🚨 This is a beautiful property however please be aware that your life will be in danger. My friend and I nearly drowned under the resorts supervision, the resort owner ( ZAIRA MCWHIRTER ) was there and witnessed EVERYTHING. WE WERE INVOLVED IN A BOAT ACCIDENT, FELL INTO THE OCEAN WITHOUT LIFE VESTS. This incident happened in January 2023 and she still HAS NOT CONTACTED US as she said she will. I have so contacted the MANAGER ( HAROLD ) and no response. They do not care about their guest or their guests safety. Just about money. We have been calling and texting but no response, she continues to ignore us. When she first called us she was concerned about HERSELF and kept bragging about going to a private doctor. We are very disappointed, hurt and disgusted in the type of people that they are. There’s no common courtesy, no empathy for human beings, and no professionalism. Especially because we THOUGHT we had built a beautiful bond with the resort owner which claimed “We are family” here at El Ben. She has an apartment at the property and she invited us over the night before the terrible accident. The resort continues to promote, celebrate and make videos on a boat where we fell off from and ALMOST DIED! I’ve been traveling for the world for YEARS! And never experienced something so disheartening and terrible like this. This is very unfair and unacceptable! We demand answers!!

Read moreI made 3 stops along my Belize trip, and thought El Ben's would have been the nicer of the 3 places I chose. On the contrary, it was the least favorite.
I originally booked a single cabana, to which they denied and placed me in a co-op cabana. They said I never requested a single hut but according to my reservation, I did. They however moved me to a suite, but it still lacked simple amenities like a fridge.
The view is subpar. It's covered by lots of bushes/foliage and really limits the ocean view. Not worth the $300+/night. Even in the suite, my view was construction...
The service is laughable, except for Tyra, who was amazing. For example, we went to breakfast, and ordered French toast, which comes with guava. Not until the food arrived, did we not see any guava. The waitress never informed us they were out of guava, and we wouldn't have ordered it otherwise. Nothing was accommodated and she just kinda stared at us.
If I came back to Belize, I'd stay longer in San Pedro at X'tan Ha. Golden Bay in the city is also excellent, although the city is quite limited in attractions / excursions.
I will note however, that upon arrival, our bed was made extremely well with flowers spelling out Love, so kudos to the housekeeping as well.
3/5 IMO. Lucky to get a 3, and not a 2. I don't understand the high...
