The Split is THE spot to hang out and party like it’s spring break all summer long. It can be a lot of fun and it's worth checking out at least once when you're on Caye Caulker. I'm not saying you shouldn't go there, but keep in mind, the food and drinks are priced a lot higher here than most of the island. My fiancé and I got a drink here, but we ate at other restaurants nearby for half the cost. There also weren't many people here when we were visiting. Maybe with more people it would be more fun. We ended up liking the bar next door a lot more because it's a similar vibe but fairly priced and locally owned. Regardless of food and beverage, The Split has its perks – music, a high platform to jump off of, and tables in the water. Great spot to people watch, and you’ll see a lot of boats pass through.

The Split is such an easy spot to find, and if we ever forget, we can just agree to meet here! Haha! The place is stunning with so much to do, swimming, jet skiing, eating, drinking, and more. We prefer to enjoy the fun during the day because it gets a bit too crowded in the evening. We’re glad we visited mostly before the weekend, it made the experience even better!

Gently idled our way through the split as part of our tour with Reef Adventures. Not much to see initally outside of the patio of the Lazy Lizard, however as you travel down a bit further you can snorkel with the Manatees, feed the Tarpon and Pelican, and see a small protected Nursary for Sea Horses.

PLASTIC EVERYWHERE!! I was there for the lobster fest and although the music and atmosphere were good, there was plastic everywhere floating and sinking in the ocean! If you're serious about your island and want tourists to keep appreciating it in the future, PLEASE stop serving drinks in plastic glasses with plastic straws and hire someone to clean the beach of plastic bags/bottles, foam boxes, etc before the wind take them to the ocean. Watching the sunset with all this plastic waste on the ocean surface...

If you have small kids, bring floaties for their arms. There’s a strong current in some places and I saw a lady yell for help today, not far from the shore because she was wading with a young child. Someone had to jump in and help them. Go at a time when you are thirsty- the sip and dip has a nice area free of the algae where you can sit at tables in the water. Bring a snorkel- there are...
