Magical. TLDR: Press “Book Now” - don’t hesitate. |For some reason, planning our daughter’s graduation trip to Belize felt daunting and stressful. So much to do so many places to choose from. I bit the bullet and booked us a 5 night stay at Prana Maya. Somehow it ended up being the best decision of our life. After I booked, the lovely concierge contacted me with food & spa menus, free activities on the island, and tours off of the island for us to plan our days if we so wanted. |Darwin picked us up from Chaa Creek and drove us a few hours to Prana Maya in Placencia (a beautiful drive). The 5 minute boat taxi from Placencia to Prana Maya (which is included in the stay) is a wonderful add-on free to use all day. |We were greeted with cocktails White Lotus style by the manager Mary and all of the staff. I wish I took a pic but I was busy soaking up the moment. We spent our days swimming, kayaking, snorkeling right there off the island, soaking up the sun, and drinking marvelous cocktails and mocktails.|Vendetta and Ranier run the front desk effortlessly and responded to all of our requests immediately. Truly luxurious treatment. We felt like royalty our entire stay. Housekeeping and turn down service made us feel like royalty. They have the nicest towels I’ve ever felt. The decor is on point, homey, relaxing, and cozy. They truly have thought of everything, the whole place even smells amazing. All of the bartenders and kitchen staff are 10/10. Kai, Imer, Amador, Mauricio, I know I’m leaving some people out but oh my goodness. Again. Royal treatment from everyone.|We did a snorkeling tour with the recommended excursion company. My 11 and 18 year old daughters continue to rave about our experiences. They didn’t actually want to leave the resort at all, but we convinced them to do the tour and were beyond grateful we did so. We did spend the rest of our trip there at the resort only leaving to roam around Placencia a couple of times. |The food is absolutely mind-blowing. The freshest ingredients and top tier service left us with no complaints whatsoever. We enjoyed having breakfast delivered from the kitchen to our villa so we could eat watching the ocean every morning. We also sat and watched the manatees in the lagoon out front multiple times each day. I am not a crier, but I cried as we prepared to leave and hugged our new friends goodbye. Andrew drove us to the airport and made a very special stop on the way for some last minute beautiful pictures to say goodbye to their beautiful country. I can’t thank the staff enough for everything that they did our entire stay.|I really don’t know what to say except for you must STAY HERE! You will never forget your stay and won’t regret a single penny. The world is a huge place so I don’t believe in staying the same place twice. But we WILL be back and hope to make it a tradition to stay at Prana Maya with our family. I came back more refreshed and energized than I’ve ever felt. Senior year with my daughter was stressful to say the least. We are all so grateful for the treatment and experience given to us by Prana Maya. We will sing their...
Read moreWe did a preview trip to Prana Maya Island Resort. This brand new facility was stunning. From the gracious greeting of the staff to the cleverly thought-out facilities, the experience radiated happiness, wellness and casual luxury. Our room was on the first floor of the main lodge. We slid open the curtains to be greeted with huge sliding glass doors that opened wide to a beautiful terrace that was stunningly just 20 feet from the water's edge of the Carribean. The interior was spacious and beautifully appointed with high end furnishing, original lively art, expresso machine, slippers and plush robes. Linens were luxurious and the bed was even fitted with a grounding mat. Separate 3 and 4 bedroom villas with exclusive kitchens and infinity pools were also available.
The open concept bar and dining areas in the main lodge featured wide open views of the resort's private harbor on one side and the resort's infinity pool, private pier and gorgeous Carribean water on the other. Chef Liesel's plates were delicious works of art and the resort's signature drink collection was imaginative with distinct Belizean flavors.
Their world class spa calmly but impressively occupied the third floor of the main lodge where an impressive array of services were offered. Complimentary kayaks and stand up paddleboards were available. It was windy on our kayaking day so we chose to kayak around the harbor and mangrove forest that was adjacent to the resort property. Resort staff helped us set up off-site excursions on two days. We chose a snorkeling and light fishing excursion that took us to coral reefs one day and a jungle excursion to view monkeys, crocodiles and other jungle creatures on the other day. The boat stopped to view manatees on the way back. Both excursions included a fantastic Belizean style lunch.
The resort's shuttle boat was always easily available to carry us back and forth on the 5 minute ride between the resort's beautiful private harbor and the main Placencia Village pier where plenty of Caribbean style restaurants, bars, shops and grocers were within easy strolling distance of the pier.
Overall, this resort was exceptional and well worth the visit. I am looking forward to returning soon to experience the additional...
Read moreAfter spending the last 5 days at the Prana Maya resort , I feel moved to share my experience, as the service and atmosphere far exceeded my expectations and made for an overall amazing and memorable time in Belize.
From the first point of contact, the staff was warm, welcoming, and responsive. This level of care and attention to service was woven throughout our experience.
We stayed in the Starfish room - the room was gorgeous, spacious, and had exactly everything we needed. It’s clear that they spared no expense in terms of decor. The space was private and quiet. The view from the room was stunning and the outdoor patio area was the perfect place to spend mornings and evenings reading and listening to the waves.
The restaurant was one of the highlights of our experience. The open breeze and ocean views were the perfect compliment to the delicious Caribbean inspired cuisine. I am a vegetarian and the head chef went above and beyond to accommodate me. Every meal was mouth watering and memorable. My partner did a fishing tour arranged by the concierge. Upon return, the chef prepared the fresh caught fish for him in a variety of ways that he throughly enjoyed.
We also did a snorkeling trip; it was truly awe inspiring to see the reef in such an intimate way. The staff at Prana Maya handled all the details of our excursions and everything went smoothly.
We had massages and reflexology at the Prana Maya Spa which were super relaxing and just what we needed to unwind and settle in to our vacation.
All of the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. They were very knowledgeable about the culture and environment of Belize and I enjoyed learning from them. We did a hike at the Bocawina National Park upon staff recommendation and saw the most breathtaking waterfall we have ever seen.
When leaving it honestly felt like saying goodbye to friends as everyone was so genuine and personable.
We had an amazing time and look forward to returning and staying in one of the villas with our children ( I had a tour of the villas and they are beyond beautiful) I can’t recommend this...
