We came to Placencia to look at property and ventured out to the Caye for viewings. We discovered Beat and Caroline, and the Placencia Yacht Club. The view is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the drinks made to order. We have been several times and it is our favorite place to visit. Beat and Caroline are refreshingly genuine and we have had some good laughs. So wonderful are these two and their business that we have decided they would make great neighbors. The short boat ride (less than 5 minutes) to the Placencia Yacht Club is also a pleasant part of the experience. We look forward to visiting (along with eating and drinking) regularly. Just a brief history. This location used to be Tranquillo Restaurant and was under other ownership and management. This is not Tranquillo, and is under new management. Beat and Caroline took over the location just as COVID hit. They renamed it Placencia Yacht Club. There is dock space for larger vessels, a wonderful bar and restaurant, and Beat and Caroline run a high-end fly fishing excursion from their yacht. We have not yet participated in a fly fishing outing. This business, which is at the same location, is called Clear Water Exploring. The Yacht Club is on the lee side of the island and the wind comes from the NE. Therefore, the ride to the island is always calm, and takes about 3-5 minutes...

If you are ever in Placencia then you need to check this place out! It is only accessible by boat but you can contact Caroline, the owner, who will arrange transportation for you. You will get picked up from the main dock and the roundtrip ride costs about $30 BZD.

Caroline herself is the sweetest!! She absolutely makes you feel so welcomed as if she's inviting a long time friend into her home. She was working short staffed tonight but was very open and honest about it. She ended up doing amazing, taking orders and cooking at the same time.

The view at this place is to die for. Make sure you arrive before sunset because it is beautiful. There are cool rope swing chairs and just enough seating space. You can see tons of different marine life (we saw a pod of dolphins and huge fish) and apparently some people swim or snorkel by the dock.

I drank beer but my boyfriend had the special rum punch which was really refreshing. There is a small food menu item which I would love to try if we can fit enough time to come back. Several people had the tomato spaghetti and loved it.

Caroline also has three big friendly dogs!! She makes sure she gives you a heads up just so there are no surprises.
