The food was the best we have had in Placencia, and worth every penny. They blend the right amount of vegetables into their main courses- a rarity in the area so we relished the incorporation. We all ordered seafood, and each ingredient was well thought to. We started with crudo, bruschetta board, and starter salad. Enjoyed snapper ( spicy but welcomed and balanced), fresh catch of the day, fish tacos, and Caribbean stew. On our departure I inquired where the head chef trained. He is Belizian, but also has a restaurant in California. I have worked as a sommelier in the states for over two decades -Wine is hard to come by in Belize, and my wife enjoyed her glasses. I felt like the two "house infusion" cocktails were well thought out. Portions were perfectly generous(we all shared a bit with each other). Staff wasn't overly friendly, nor was there much review of the menu before we ordered, but they were efficient, aware and even refilled tap water. Well executed food ( and two great cocktails) will make us dine here again, even if it is our most...
Read moreThe two of us had dinner at Rumfish on a Thursday night. The food was good. I had the Snapper in curry sauce with vegetables and rice and it was really good. The wife had the Lasanga and it was a large portion. But you need to understand this is not your usual lasagna with ricotta cheese, meat and plenty of sauce. This lasagna is more BBQ than Italian. It’s made with braised short ribs and very little tomato sauce. It’s rib meat so if cooked quickly it tends to be stringy and a little tough and it was.
Again if your looking for that traditional Italian lasagna this is not it. I give the snapper 5 stars and the lasagna 3 out of 5 stars. The prices are a little on the high side but the food quality is there (except for the lasagna). I would recommend and eat there again, the only downside was that the lasagna fell a little short in my opinion but the Snapper in curry sauce was really, really good.
Our two plates with 2 rum punch each was $114 BZ, $57 USD, before tip....

After getting lunch there on a whim, we tallied a total of four visits in three days. Whether it was lunch or dinner, all food was a total knockout, and the cocktails (and mocktails) were no slouch, either. The kitchen team cranked out winning dish after winning dish, each with excellent prep, exceptional technique, and beautiful plating.
Special kudos to the spectacular red curry snapper and to the tostones we had to order twice to satisfy the craving the first helping kindled. Lionfish crudo, all three tacos, a shrimp pasta special, the fish and chips, and the coffee-rubbed pescado were all delectable.
Great vibe that can accommodate diners dressed up or dressed down. Attentive servers. 10/10. Will be back next time we’re...
