THe Mitru has only been opened for a few months (as of May 2014) and has some excellent features such as:||clean, well detailed contemporary rooms with mini-bar, good range of TV channels, plus its location is 10 mins by regular trufi to San Francisco church (heart of downtown). Staff are helpful (some speak good english too) and the buffet breakfast is very well laid out, with fresh pastries , fruit etc. there are a couple of small supermarkets nearby too (as the hotel only provides breakfast) ||||On the flip side:||(And perhaps this is all because of its newness) I had a number of niggly problems that involved room changes due to a lack of warm water, and blocked drains, which although quite well handled by the staff were a pain, and really after all this time should've been resolved before now.||The Wifi is OK (which means "good" by La Paz standards, but keeps coming & going, and I had to keep asking the staff to reset the routers to refresh its signals ever few hours...!||Seem slike all the rooms face Eastwards with huge glass windows, which I found made the room really warm, but reception didn't have any fans, so I had to open the windows to regulate the heat, BUT this means that you get the (not insubstantial) noise from the buy road below, and the Friday night disco over the road too!||||On balance, well worth considering, but its not...
Read moreI stayed here for 6 nights on a recent work trip to La Paz. This was the first time my office booked me here, and I was grateful they did. It is well located in the central part of the city, and is pretty close to the Teleferico (cable car) station. There are good restaurants nearby. The hotel seems new, and is well maintained. The rooms and the bathrooms are extremely clean and well appointed, albeit a bit bare (but that might be because the room I stayed in was quite large). Clean and comfortable bed and soft pillows, wall mounted flat screen TV with clear cable connection (of course, I only needed CNN and BBC), a fridge with a mini bar, desk and chair, good wifi connection, and a very clean bathroom with soft and clean towels. ||||The only two things I wish were better are: one, you could hear people on the road outside especially in the night if they were a bunch of young ones coming back from wherever they come back from in the middle of the night, and two, the breakfast while decent enough, is just that - decent enough! But the incredibly polite and helpful staff at breakfast somewhat make up for it. ||||All in all, I have asked my office to book me at this hotel each time I...
Read moreFor those who like historic charm and being located in the heart of activity, there are several hotels in the city center, and for those who like sophisticated shopping there are great hotels in Zona Sur. For those who want a retreat from the noise and bustle of the city, however, Hotel Mitru is the perfect spot right between the city center and Zona Sur. Located in an upper middle-class neighborhood, it is close to several embasies, indlucing that of the U.S. ||The hotel is immacuately clean and has spotless rooms in a minimalist modern style, but with all the basics. The breakfast is excellent and wifi is very good. Small local restaurants are all around the neighborhood. Free tea and coffee are availabe around the clock.||The cost of rooms is moderate and overall the hotel is probably the best deal for your money...
