LONG REVIEW BUT PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ ||When I arrived at this hotel I was very shocked and surprised to find that the building and landscaping were under severe construction. ||There was a massive trench dug along the whole front of the hotel - an eyesore which completely took away from the lake views. ||This was also a serious safety concern as you had to jump from one side to the other. The trench was almost two meters deep and a meter wide. ||When I asked the reception attendant about the works and why I was not informed at time of booking or later on he showed little interest. I asked if I could have a refund on the room as I wished to stay elsewhere because this was not what I had booked. ||He forwarded me onto Booking.com (where I had made the booking) and told me there was nothing he could do. ||I sat in the lobby and created a live chat with a customer service representative from Booking.com and she advised me that it was up to the hotel to decide if they would grant a refund. ||I was advised by the hotel staff member that I would be contacted only to hear from them a few hours later simply stating: “We cannot grant you a refund due to the nature of the booking”.||I understand that you cannot usually cancel just before you are due to stay with a full refund but I expected some leniency and flexibility to be given due to the circumstances. ||I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! ||Truly a very...
Read moreWe stayed at the Onkel Inn in Copacabana for two nights in November, 2019. We found the accommodations very good and as described. We had a room on the second floor of one of the two room towers, we had a wonderful view of Lake Titicaca. The room was well appointed with a clean bathroom and full shower. There were some minor maintenance issues but nothing that affected our stay. The hotel is located a short walk from the center of Copacabana, perhaps 15 minutes. At this altitude, this may be a little inconvenient. However, we found being out of the center of the town an advantage as it can be quite hectic. There was a breakfast provided with our stay which was simple but adequate. ||||By far, the best aspect of our stay was the Manger, Danielo. My communication with Danielo prior to our stay was prompt and helpful. During our stay he was informative and helpful. He even went out of his was to arrange a boat fro me to go fishing on Lake Titicaca. This was much appreciated. ||||I recommend the Onkel Inn without reservation for a stay...
Read moreWe booked this place on Travelocity and I expected a room with two floors. When we arrived at our room it was much smaller. I showed the staff the pictures I was shown and we were switched to a large room that matched the pictures.
We stayed during July and the rooms warm up in daylight with so many windows and direct sunlight but as soon as the sun goes down it's quite cold even with a space heater.
There were two bathrooms, one with only luke warm water and no cold water, meaning the toilet didn't work.
On the second night we returned to the room to find the power wasn't working and were asked to just stay in the smaller room we were given initially.
Such as life right? Well come 11:15 AM on check out day we were sent a message over whatsapp that check out was 11:00 and they would charge us if we didn't check out. For the record, check out was told to us from Travelocity as noon. I was so annoyed that we were willing to forgive so much and then once we were checking out late in their eyes they wanted to threaten to...
