Plenty of tourist attractions on this beach as it is nearby to hotels and hostels. Wenn man auf einer Südamerika-Reise mit dem Bus entlang des auf 3810m MSL gelegenen Titicaca-Sees von Puno (Peru) nach LaPaz (Bolivien) fährt, stößt man auf die Copacabana-Halbinsel, mit der gleichlautenden kleinen Stadt und dem dazugehörigen Strandabschnitt auf bolivianischer Seite. Als Gelegenheitstourist, der sich nicht vollumfänglich über die Route informiert hat, kann man diesbezüglich davon überrascht sein, dass man sich plötzlich an der Copacabana befindet, welche man eigentlich in Rio de Janeiro (Brasilien) erwartet. Dazu ist zu jedoch sagen, dass beide Orte, außer dem Namen, wenig Gemeinsamkeiten haben. Der Ort Copacabana (ca. 5.500 Einwohner) befindet sich ca. 145 km (Fahrstrecke) nordwestlich von La Paz. Zur peruanischen Grenze sind es nur 10 km. Ideal eignet sich der Ort für Boots-Überfahrten zur Isla del Sol und Isla de la Luna.
