HOSTEL JERIAN — Hotel in Uyuni

I'm a little surprised by the poor reviews as my experience couldn't be further from it and from a cost/quality standpoint it was one of our best stays in Bolivia. We started our time in Uyuni at a nearby higher rated place but after contracting severe food poisoning had to extend our stay and they had no space. So we moved to the closest alternative, which was Hostel Jerian—and if we returned to Uyuni we'd stay at Jerian.

The place feels new and clean, the bathroom is good with hot showers, there are plenty of blankets for when it gets cold at night, the host/owner is great and delivers breakfast to your room, and its two blocks from the bus station and central area. RIPOFF RUN I booked a room on Booking.com for 3 people and I SPECIFICALLY sent a message to them that I will arrive between 9 and 10 pm and the hotel staff replied that it was okay and that there won't be any problem. When I arrived (around 9 pm) , the guy at the reception told me that he gave my room to other people who didn't have reservation. Furthermore, he wanted to give me 2 separate rooms instead of 1 and pretended he didn't have other room for 3. He was charging me a lot of extra money for it. Absolutely horrific experience. We booked two nights here to be able to use the room from the early morning to sleep and relax after an overnight bus ride, and we informed the hotel a few weeks before about this. After arriving at 7 in the morning with all our luggage we were rudely informed that room had been given to someone else and we could start using it late in the afternoon (for one night). No prior communication about that, not a message/email, not even an apology. We quickly found another, much better option and were told that this happens at hotel Jerian all the time.
