My wife and I spent one night at Hotel Boutique Atipax on a trip to Salar de Uyuni and South Bolivia desert. We liked the hotel although location is quite odd. Completely outside city center (walking to it takes a bit of time), in a kind of no man's land, along the railway to Chile and facing a health care facility location is in fact inconvenient. However, Hotel Boutique Atipax as several points in its favour. Our room (number 102) was very spacious and nicely decorated. Decoration relies on local items such as salt blocks for the bed basis. It is well appointed with a flat screen TV, a small fridge and a kettle. Bathroom is relatively spacious but access to the tub/shower can be an issue for elderly or disabled persons. Shower stream is also problematic as it lacks strength and distance. I also noted that some room items are showing signs of early wear. Management should pay attention to it. Breakfast is served on the first floor. No issue with it as it offers a reasonable variety of options. As we faced an emergency situation and had to cancel the second night management agreed not to charge it although it was non-cancellable as per Expedia conditions. This is worth noting. I do not hesitate to recommend Hotel Boutique Atipax for a...

Located a little bit out of the center of town, this nice hotel SHINES compared to the competition. The service provided here was second to none. We asked for laundry service and we had clean clothes one sleep later. It was wonderful after wearing the same clothes on the salt flats for 5 days. The rooms were very clean, and we enjoyed the humongous bed after a tiring long drive. The breakfast was delicious as well. Definitely don't miss out on the great options they offer in the A.M. It is possible to walk into town from the hotel, but in the evening the streets are dark. I don't think safety is an issue at all, but getting lost in the grid-style neighborhood is probably pretty easy, and it probably wouldn't be fun being lost in a dark, cold area late night. I would stay here again if i went to Uyuni. If you're reading this and you are planning a trip to the salt flats, I highly recommend staying one night in Uyuni BEFORE heading out to the flats, just to acclimate yourself to the elevation, and so that you're not exhausted from plane travel and head out to excitement. I made the bad decision to do that, and i could never catch up on sleep because of the early mornings and...

Mar 10, 2019 Not a boutique hotel! It is in fact a guest house, with 5 guest rooms on the 2nd floor, served only by stairs (i.e., not accessible). Owner lives with family on 3rd floor. On ground floor, reception shares the space with owner's travel agency (another bad experience) and a noisy open kitchen. Rooms are spacious, surprisingly comfortable and well equiped, but very noisy day and night and also very bright, making it impossible to rest. Location is very bad and a bit scary. Looks like a war scene, with dirt and abandoned car carcaces feet away from hotel door. Owner tries to make you feel welcome and even pays for taxi fares to and from downtown Uyuni to reduce the location burden, as the way is not walkable (dirty, dark and unsafe). Airport trip is not free, as stated in Expedia, but it is a very cheap 5 minute ride. Uyuni has some astonishing, breathtaking scenic views in its surroundings, but suffers from overall very poor tourism infrastructure, with bad restaurants, unpaved and very dirty streets. A real adventure for those strong at heart.

TLDR: avoid booking through OTA in USD and Room 102 We booked on Booking.com in USD, but they could only deal with Boliviano, and the currency they charged is 1:8 (while the current rate should be ~1:6.9). Payment by card will be charged an extra fee. Restaurant is terrible.. if you must dine here, order safe options like grilled chicken. Room 102 is next to the dining room, which can be very noisy at the meal time. Soundproof overall is terrible. We could hear laughs travel between floors, and also dog barks outside. Clearly shorthanded. I saw the front desk doing the job of receptionist, restaurant servant, etc. Shower and flushing were usable but hard to use. Location is very distant from the city center. Room was ok, well decorated, and spacious.

Pro: - Nice spacious room, and very clean. - Beds are comfortable, plenty of blanket. More than enough so we had to remove a couple layers. - Breakfast is exceptional and tasty, they even cook an egg for each person fresh. Con: - Hot water is not consistent, half of my group got hot/warm shower the other half got lukewarm water. - Location is abit far from everything. We got to the hotel at night dropped by our tour group and there are no restaurant around and it's sketchy to go out at night due to all the barking dogs and darkness. We ended up order meals in the hotel but dinner food were okey.
