Carpe Diem Hostel — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Angra dos Reis

This hostel was perfect for our stay in Paratay. |The location is spot on, a road away from the bus station - which is important because you’re there every day traveling to different beaches. 2 supermarkets within a few minutes walk and the historic centre 10 minutes away. |The pool and communal areas are fantastic, both allowing you to socialise and have some time to yourself.|Breakfast was one of the best we’ve had and we’ve been going for over 5 months. Never had to wait for it to be replenished and it all tasted so fresh. ||I’ve got to say it was the staff that made it for us. Leo the manager is superb! He was always on hand to answer any questions we had, always asking us how we were, if we needed anything and if he could do anything more. His manner and kindness shines through. The rest of the team were wonderful as well! Couldn’t have asked for much more! |My one suggestion would be to make sure there are hand towels and soap in all the toilets. ||Overall a wonderful stay that left us...

Laid back hostel with friendly staff. Location is very good - just 2 min walk to the bus station and the historic town is all between 5 and 15 minutes away. Staff are really friendly and helpful and have great English. Hostel isn't too big but has a small lounge and seating area and an ok size pool. Our room (double) wasn't the best. OK size but was quite basic and tired and uncomfortable pillows. Shower was very good. Air conditioning available but wasn't good at all. The worst was the smell - behind the room there is a small stream which the air conditioning unit is above which I think may be the cause of this. To be fair to the hostel, I didn't mention this until they asked at checkout and they were very apologetic and explained the town is doing something about the sewage problem. Breakfast was pretty basic - I'd recommend having a Toaster and butter for Brits / Americans who like toast in the morning, and tea would...
