After 3 hours in our room and on the beach we were not very happy.||The public beach which is all there is, is dirty, broken glass, bottle tops, dogs it is neither cleaned nor washed by the tide. The first beach washes up black seaweed so not nice to walk in the sea; the second beach is polluted by fuel from boats. The hotel has no pool, there were 2 sun beds with no shade on the jetty.||||There is no dinner served on Mondays.||||The walk to the town is difficult in day light let alone at night.||||We had hoped for a bit of luxury for our last 3 nights in Brazil.||||This resort is not our idea of a holiday ..... more like an indurance test||||It got worse:||||We changed rooms to one with some room that did not smell of damp. Had more privacy too.||||The jacuzzi sent hot water over the roof and past the bedroom windows onto the roof below. Only cold came from the taps.||||The shower could manage either very hot or very cold, nothing in between.||||Dinner was a disaster. Our fish arrived very over cooked.||||The second attempt was frozen in the middle. The fresh fish advertised was fresh before it was frozen apparently||||We are off to bed without dinner.||||This is really not what we are accustomed to.||||||This is like Faulty Towers.||||A terrible end to an expensive holiday.||||We returned to Rio...
Read moreThe place must have been magical when it was built, I guess in the 80ies of the last century. There are still elements of the old charm in its layout - the rooms are spacious, the terrace overlooking the bay is lovely. But the place is shabby and, what's worse, smelly - it reeks of rotting rubbish, septic tanks and disinfectant. ||The restaurant is one of the most expensive of the island, one of the worst too - pretentious, bland, compensating for the lack of culinary sense by serving food on fancy plates. We ate at Restaurante Lua et Mar and Cafe Do Mar where the food was simple - grilled fish and seafood, served with loads of fresh lime, it tasted of ocean freshness, just what you want on an island. Not in Sagu. ||Don't stay there - it's overpriced and under-maintained. The only positive there was the amazing young couple - the French Eva and her Argentinian boyfriend, who were more efficient, charming and helpful than the rest of the Sagu resort taken together. Otherwise, the place is badly run, their breakfast is disgusting - dry flakes and instant coffee, they don't reply to phone calls, return emails 3 days later when the information in them is no longer valid. It's a bad...
Read moreWe had an amazing time staying here. Our stay coincided with our wedding anniversary and the staff made it totally perfect! Jonathan, in the restaurant, was especially awesome. We stayed in room 9 and the view from the huge windows was stunning (when we come again we will request this room!). The hotel has a great location, being close enough to town to walk to if you wanted to, but far enough out to feel super private. The boat transfer was fun and got you to the main pier in about 2 minutes. There were lots of great hiking trails starting near the hotel that we loved (the one to Lopes Mendes is well worth the effort with boat taxis at the end to take you back). On our anniversary the staff arranged a private boat for the day that took us out around the island and our driver was brilliant at finding remote places for us to swim and chill (it was about £130 and totally worth it). Breakfast was good and the cakes at afternoon tea were delicious. We will definitely be...
