We have nothing but wonderful things to say about this hotel and would recommend to everyone ||The staff: amazing! They are willing to help you out and although most staff only speak Portuguese, they help regardless. If you only speak English, it's good to know the basics which will make like much easier for you and they appreciate it too. Wonderful people always happy and helpful - even when it rained they came and checked if we needed more towels to stay dry or if we needed anything in the room - above and beyond||The location: great - a short walk to the lighthouse and the caves, 200-300m if that from the beach, and access to the ferry. This hotel is located on the "quieter" side of the island but if you want to go around to the other side, there is a regular cheap ferry (few dollars) to go around very close. Close to everything you would need.||The hotel: beautiful! Has that real island vibe with outdoor lounges, stand up paddle boards to borrow if wanted, tropical plants and many birds.||The room: clean, tidy, and pretty. We stayed in room 9 which was a queen and single (3 person room) and we had a seperate lounge and bedroom and bathroom. Make sure you take your own shampoo and conditioner as they don't provide but they do provide soap :) |Note: the island itself doesn't have a well established sewage system so toilet paper needs to go into the waste basket not the toilet - all hotels will have this same policy and routine, not just this one but something to know for when you visit ilha do Mel as this may be unusual for some guests. The staff clean daily if you drop your key before 11 at reception||The restaurant: if you want fresh local seafood, reasonable prices, large serving and amazing food, you need to eat here. They offer great dishes with local seafood but have vegetarian options, chicken and meat if you don't like seafood (and some incredible chocolate loaded desserts). Be aware if you are looking for American or Australian style food you won't find it (ie burgers and chips) because they are making food that is local and fresh and not touristy :) their food is incredible, best polenta I have ever had||Overall we have nothing but great things to say about the staff, the hotel, the restaurant and our experience there - to all the staff thank you for making it such an enjoyable and...

Read moreIlha do Mel in south of Brazil, is known for its raw beauty and several bed and breakfast/resort places to stay. While many have attractive pricing, sadly they lack comfort, good food and service...||"Fim da Trilha" is the ultimate stop for those who want a place which is a step ahead of the rest. Simply the best restaurant and food in the entire Island, if not one of the best in Brazil, a beautifully set place with impeccable taste and finesse, giving you the full vibe of the Island with utmost elegance, structure, comfort and the right crowd... Surrounded by Brazilian Rain forest, Fim da Trilha sits a mere 100 ft from some of the most beautiful beaches in the Island and the entire south of Brazil. Raw nature at it's best. There are surf beaches, hang out beaches and just quiet and desert ones as well... All within walking/hiking distance. They are all so safe and close that I brought my girlfriend at night for long strolls under the moonlight... Last but not least, what lies behind every great place: The people. The owners along with the insanely dedicated to please crew of "Fim da Trilha" made us feel at home, from the second we set foot in the Island to the moment we left. No halfway stuff here folks, you will be treated like nowhere else. I wish I could give them an 11, but the scoring only...
