I’ve never been to Brazil before, nor indeed South America, so it’s hard to judge or compare. In a very hot country, in a resort by the beach, I don’t think it’s reasonable or necessary to expect the same standards as you would in a city or colder climate. Life is lived outside and we needed a good bed, a shower, security and a pool.||||We travelled to Brazil for a family wedding, and three couples and two adult children, stayed in this hotel, chosen online for its location and availability. ||||The hotel is located in a resort town about an hour’s drive from Salvadore. (Taxi to airport for 4 adults cost £45). It was less than 5 minutes walk to the wonderful beach and dozens of restaurants and shops. The hotel is small, about 24 rooms on three floors, built around the small pool area. There is 24 hour security and the resort itself is only accessible if you are staying there. We had a room on the ground floor with a small outside area, but rooms on the upper floors do not have this. The room was standard hotel size, with a comfortable king-size bed, hanging space for clothes, and satellite tv which we didn’t watch. All rooms have a fridge with beer, water and soft drinks. The walk-in shower was good, although the controls were mysterious, and it was all a bit mouldy due to the humidity. It could do with replacing. The upper rooms didn’t suffer so much from the mould.||||Breakfast was a mix of excellent fruit, cakes, really good bread rolls and scrambled eggs, cheese and cold meat, along with strange ( for us ) things such as mini hotdogs, chicken balls and pizza. Excellent coffee. No complaints. Neither lunch nor dinner were available (the variety of restaurants nearby made this a non-issue) but every afternoon coffee, tea and cakes were laid out. ||||The pool and surrounding area was small, and there weren’t enough chairs, tables and loungers to accommodate everyone. We were there over New Year and there was full occupancy, and mostly we managed to find space, but not always. The pool was immaculately clean, with a member of staff constantly scooping leaves out of the water and brushing the area. Gorgeous flowers and plants were all around.||||The staff were pleasant, relaxed but attentive, and did a good job. Our room was properly cleaned every day. Top rating for staff. They spoke little English but made good use of Google Translate, and were most helpful in getting taxis and tuk-tuks and generally helping us. They also provided complimentary tickets to the turtle project in the town.||||In summary, we were safe, comfortable and well looked after. Not luxurious by any means, but perfectly adequate for what we needed. The town itself is vibrant, noisy and cheerful, lots of eating places and shops, fabulous beach and pretty little church. ||||A great...
Read moreThis hotel is absolutely perfect! Location, right at the village, walking distance to the beaches and the local restaurants and shops, you can also order in meals if you would like, the complimentary breakfast is wonderful, variety of foods and tastes. The rooms are spacious and clean, room service was excellent, AC in the bedrooms and ceiling fans in the other rooms. Peaceful, gorgeous, clean, free Wi-Fi, safe and we can’t wait to go back! We stayed by the one of the two swimming pools they have, very safe for kids, my children stayed in the shallow part of the pool. They also offer a wonderful afternoon snack that you can serve yourself with great tea, coffee, crackers, hot cocoa, cakes and juices. I was very pleased with their prompt and friendly service, we also loved the free pass to the Projeto Tamar, which is a wonderful preserve for sea turtles, my kids, who are explorers had a fantastic time. We definitely recommend this Pousada Porto do Sol hotel. We are surely going back many times more. Great price for...
Read moreTook a gamble on an unknown place I found on the internet and WOW am I glad I did! This pousada is really quaint, clean, and has excellent/friendly service. the receptionist arranged for a transfer from the airport in salvador-really great service. The hotel uses the restaurant next door for their breakfast and it is very ample and delicious-the restaurant itself has an award-winning chef/menu for bahian cuisine. The hotel is located on the quiet, beach side of town-right behind the lighthouse and turtle preserve. it is not a resort, but does have a big pool-like you´ll really need it! there are several great restaurants on the block as well. overall a GREAT value at a small, clean, cute place. dont get tricked by the bigger resorts-they have a much larger overhead and less staff per...
