My husband and I chose this Pousada because it was the only vacancy left on the island during Carnaval. It was old, run down, and smelly. There were 3 beds in our room. One double and two singles. There was a Febreze like sprayer in the room that sprayed a scent every 30 minutes. By minute 25, you knew why it was in the room. Basically this is a 1 star place, and if you are paying a 1 star price, say 20-50$ US a night, it is fine, you get what you pay for... But when you are paying $250/ night...Yikes. No one brought our bags to our room, there was someone minding the place, but I would not call that person a "receptionist", and the late night guy did not seem trustworthy, and I have good reason to believe he was in our room while we were out. For instance, in our room there is a huge hole in the ceiling where they had once changed a light fixture and never bothered to repair the hole. Our last day there, there was no water for showers. Staying at Pousada Tia Gloria made me feel like the owner only cared about getting as much money out of his guests as possible. You really should...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night having decided we didn't want to return to Salvador. As it was the week after new year, we were worried there would be nothing available. This place was available so we went and checked it out and it looked fine. Interestingly paying in person by cash was more expensive than via booking sites. The pousada has a decent breakfast and is in a good location, being close to the port but away from the noise of the main square. The room was bigger than the other pousadas we stayed at and it had a decent sized bathroom and good shower. All in all pretty...
