My husband and I stayed here back in March and we had a wonderful stay. The food was amazing, the customer service and recommendations were incredible, and the connections the employees had with local businesses / private tour guides throughout the island was extremely helpful. We did have have a few times where it was difficult to reach staff when we needed them, for example, when our AC stopped working, and that was frustrating but problem was eventually solved. However, I would most importantly like to note that towards the end of our stay the customer service we received from Kim took a dive and she began being short with us, and then one night when we requested additional bedding she was rude to us, scoffed at us, and said “Oh my God” as she turned her back and walked away from us because my husband forgot to initially mention that we also needed pillow covers, making her go back and grab those for us in addition to the sheet we requested (we accidentally missed the room service option that day so we had to tend to the bed and room ourselves). Sure, it was late at night and close to her shift ending, but the way she treated us was absolutely unacceptable and left an awful (and sad) taste in our mouth in regards to Maria Bonita. I was personally incredibly upset that she spoke to my husband this way and planned to make a comment to her once she returned with the pillow cases but my husband, as kind as he is, simply said it wasn’t worth it. From this point on I was nervous to go into the lobby as I didn’t want to see her and possibly experience the same temper. Lucky our stay was almost over and we didn’t have to see her again. We do not plan to stay at Maria Bonita again due to this as we wouldn’t want to risk being mistreated again and for the price point that it is, something like this should have never occurred. If something like this would not bother you though, then we would certainly recommend the...

Read moreYou can sort of see from the first photo that the pool is a little cloudy...that is sort of indicative of my whole experience there. The best thing about it was the int ernet. I had to log in about 20 times each day, which was a pain in the tail. The rooms are quite small, and dark, similar to an alpine lodge. I think this place is owned by a well-known Brazilian celebrity, and was sort of completed on the cheap, but with a facade that looks sort of nice...you certainly get the feel that Fernando is a developing tourist area with insufficient water, electricity, internet...but the beaches are great...I stayed in a couple of hotels that were a bit further out of town and offered more quiet and...
