We stayed in room #4 of Do Bita from 4/9/14-4/14/14 and really enjoyed it. The room was small by American standards and not but not by island standards. But it was exceptionally clean. The beds were very comfortable. The air conditioner worked fine. The morning buffet breakfast prepared by our host, Maria, was very tasty and varied. It always included fresh juices of interesting tropical varieties, about 6 types of breads, pastries and coffee cakes, some meat protein such as ham, cheeses and two types of fresh fruits. Their coconut coffee cake was divine, especially with yogurt on it! I appreciated having a clothes line out back to dry my wet swimsuit and any clothes I had gotten wet or washed out. The front porch was simply lovely. Whether to get out of the summer heat or the rain, it was always shady and comfortable. Since the water from the tap is not safe to drink ( or, in my opinion to even brush your teeth), it was nice to have a ready supply of water bottles stocked in the refrigerator in the room. Caution... bring your own soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion as these things are not provided. One morning the Pousada owner gave us a shared ride to the other end of the island for free as he was going that way. Do Bita is within block from the bus stops and a 10 minute walk to the taxi stands. Maria will help you call a taxi whenever you need one. Caution,Maria does not speak English but one of her guests got around that by bringing a tablet that did translations. The guest would type what she wanted on the tablet that would translate it and then show it to Maria! i was fortunate to have a Portuguese speaking daughter along with me to cover that need. If I ever returned to this island I would choose this pousada again. This time it was chosen for us by a tour company as a...

My boyfriend and I were going for our baby moon and had to cancel 10 DAYS before (more than enough time) because of the widely-known violent Zika virus outbreak in Brazil, that has been causing pregnant women to give birth to babies with microcephaly. I had to cancel my trip because I wasn't going to put my child at risk, especially after the World Health Organization issued an alert asking pregnant women not to travel to the area and for women in Brazil to hold back from conceiving- That's how bad it is! ||Instead of giving us our money back like every single airline and other pousada did, Pousada do Bita promised to give it back and then backtracked using laws in Fernando de Noronha, instead of taking into account this is a sanitary emergency that escapes the control of anyone involved and that exceptions should be made to pregnant women and their partners.||I don't recommend this place to anyone, what a disappointing attitude in such a complicated situation, it shows no compassion or flexibility toward their clients. Shame on you Pousada do Bita, Rosangela Lima and owner Maria who promised to give our money back and then backtracked. This shows you are complete amateurs of tourism, not capable of facing or resolving complicated situations that may occur and most sadly of all, not caring for other human beings affected by them. I have now been fighting with you for two months of my pregnancy, bitter because you won't reimburse me...
