Ive had to stay one night at rio airport spontaneously due to my flight being full. I fly by staff because my uncle works for an airline and i had bad luck. So i looked online and saw that there was this hotel in the airport. Ive had to walk a long time from the terminal where the flights depart to terminal 1 where the hotel is located at. Terminal 1 felt like an abandone horror movie because there were barely any people there, but thats not the hotels fault. Ive walked in and asked about the prices for one night, it was expensive. So i tried to go into linx hotel which was just outside the airport but unfortunately they were fully booked. So evemtually i booked a room at rio airport hotel. It was 450€ which was quite expensive for one night. As soon as i arrived im my room the electricity went out, so no lights, no ac and no power to charge my devices. I went to the reception and on the way there i asked a housekeeping lady it it happens often and she said no but smiled in a way that was sarcastic, theyve told me they sent someone to fix it. It came back after 10 minutes but then went off again for 10 minutes. It then came back and went off again fir about 30 minutes. As i was really tired it was unpleasant. The room had no windows and were quite small and it was really noisy. It was clean though. The breakfast was really not tasty at all. I ate a little chocolate bar which was priced at 10 R$ (~2US$) from the minibar; and when i went to checkout i asked if it could be for free since of the electricity situation the night before but the lady at the reception said no as she had to pay for it. Most of the employees were friendly but i would advice everyone to go to...
Read moreAbsolutely horrifying hotel. Our room had no windows. Never seen that before anywhere. Double room with a double bed is very narrow. Toilet also very small. The room and the hotel in is very noisy, and the door does not close tightly. Everything is painted brown and beige, and reminds of something from the 60's.||Even worse: someone opened the door to our room at at 06:30 am - not for room service. When that someone realised that we har barried the door with our heavy suitcase, they gave up. We never got an explanation of an excuse. ||If you think that this hotel is close to the airport think again. There is a fee shuttle bus that maybe run all 24 hours, but you have to wait for it. There are other and much better hotels with shuttles around the airport, with windows and modern architecture, so you gain nothing by using this hotel. Dont walk from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 - It is a walk in raw concrete of 20-25 min. and in a very unsafe and badly lid area.||And be aware: it is priecy - noth worth even half the price. Stay away. A bottle of 150 ml non sparkling water costs 8 Reals (costs 2 on the street).||Best advice for the airport admins: tear down this spooky, empty concrete block from the 60's, and remove it from the surface...
Read moreWhen there is but one hotel located within the airport premises, I think you start to worry. Since there is zero competition, there is a risk that service will be below par. I suppose when the reason for staying here is just to ensure yourself that you'll get to your flight on time (in our case, 5 am), then the hotel fits the bill. Other than that, just sleep until you awake and get to Terminal 2 where all flights happen.||First the location. It is on the third floor of Terminal 1, a building that was undergoing some renovations during our stay. There were hardly any people around which gives a surreal feel. Second, the reception staff. While they try to be helpful, they don't seem happy with their job as they always looked harassed for reasons unknown. Lastly, our room. First thing you notice when you enter: no windows! ||Outside the hotel door, there are no stores or restaurants. Unless you want to eat in the hotel dining, you'd have to either take a LONG walk or ride the free shuttle to Terminal 2 to grab a bite. Breakfast buffet comes with the room and starts at 6 am, fortunately the dining staff allowed us to wrap and take some food as we had to leave early for our flight.||So if I were you, look for another...
