Sonho do Papagaio — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata do Rio de Janeiro

Far from the kitsch that is Copacabana and the chaos in downtown lies a part of Rio that seems forgotten by time. Up the cobbled streets of Santa theresa stands a lovely Colonial townhouse ,Sonho do Papagaio. We were welcomed by Fabio and Angela,who take care of the guests when the owner is away. Our room was huge windows overlooking the lovely gardens below. We were lucky in that there were no other guests and so we had the large bathroom for ourselves,it us usually shared with other guests.We were exhausted after a 13 hr flight and sank into the large comfortable bed . Breakfast was served in the dining room and consisted of delicious local fruit and delicacies A dip in the pool was the perfect way to cool off the heat and a short walk uphill brought us to some wonderful restaurants. The area is safe however at night it is better to catch a taxi. There is some distance from the nearest downtown but Fabio was kind enough to take us by car to Gloria were we easily hailed a cab from the street. Fabio and angela speak portuguese and we don't however we still managed to communicate . They are very helpful and discreet . Abbiamo scelto il B&B sulla base di alcune fotografie e perchè cercavamo un quartiere più tranquillo e meno turistico e impersonale di Copacabana...e così siamo arrivate a fine gennaio 2015 a Sonho do Papagaio.||Ci siamo subito accorte di aver azzeccato!!!!!||Fabio ci ha aiutato con le valigie e ci ha subito dato dei consigli utili sui giri a Rio e alcune indicazioni pratiche per muoversi in città,||Angela al mattino ci preparava ottime colazioni sempre diverse con prodotti freschi e tanta frutta, servite con cura!||Fabio ci ha accompagnate anche in due occasioni rendendosi davvero molto disponibile e flessibile.||Queste due persone ci hanno fatto sentire davvero a nostro agio senza mai essere invadenti, ma allo stesso tempo ci sono state numerose occasioni di dialogo e condivisione.||Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di essere le uniche ospiti per qualche giorno al piano superiore della casa e quindi, nonostante ci sia solo un bagno (anche se molto spazioso e pulito) lo abbiamo avuto tutto per noi senza doverlo condividere(unica eventuale pecca). La stanza era molto grande....anche se caldissima dovuta alla temperatura di quella settimana che superava la media stagionale. Un tuffo in piscina ha aiutato a rinfrescarsi.||il quartiere di Santa Teresa è molto carino, ma puo succedere che i taxisti (soluzione migliore per rientrare la sera) non vogliano accompagnare fin lassù o facciano a finta di non sapere dove andare (sapere il portoghese aiuta a non farsi fregare!!!!!)||Siamo state davvero bene, grazie mille a Fabio e...
