The hotel placed in wonderfull place in the forest. There are a lot of nature berry fruits around it. And that's all good things about the hotel. First, beware of the stairs in front of the enter. The stones are moving and falls under your feets. Hotel staff: The hotel staff welcome you with face "Today had to be my day off" and when you start speaking with them you are realising that definatetly: today had to be their day off. The rooms: The rooms are dirty. The furnitures are covered with several months dust. The half of wall-mounted hangers in the bathroom have fallen. The shower sprays in all directions except towards you. The blankets are eaten by moths. Air conditioner? You are in the mountain man. You don't need it. Open the window and the fresh and cool air... Surprise! There are no nets on the windows, so mosquitoes, welcome to me! Restaurant: The restaurant is too small for the hotel capacity. You wait for the restaurant to open between 5 and 10 minutes after its opening time. Тhe queue has grown, and when they open, the food ends before your eyes. Empty food trays are replaced with full ones only at the last minutes of the meal. You are lucky if you find an unoccupied chair. Unoccupied table? - Forget it. The food... (i'm using the word "food" just because i don't want to use another more colorful word) is edible for dogs... may be. The icing on the cake is the mousetrap proudly placed under the fireplace and all with flies stuck to it. Swimming pool: If after seeing all this, you dare to visit the swimming pool, you will be surprised by its decent appearance. However, do not enter locker rooms or toilets. You will be dissuaded from using the pool.
Overall, the time has stopped about 2005 here. I will definitely never book this...
Read moreGiven the price we didn’t have high expectations which was just as well.||||Would we stay here again? No||Would we recommend it? No||||The rooms - according to the website they are furnished to a “high standard”. Given that some of the towels were pretty much rags (paper thin and fraying edges) and that the foam pillows were so old that the foam had disintegrated into clumps then I disagree. Plus the sofa bed (the second double) was very small and certainly would not be big enough for tall children or teenagers to share.||The food - for fussy eaters we didn’t go hungry but it wasn’t the best. Every evening there was always chips and salad on offer with 2/3 choices of meat or fish. Annoyingly the water machine was out of use each evening so all drinks had to be purchased from the bar.||The hotel - very run down with nothing looking like it had been decorated or updated in the last 20 odd years. The smoking area was positioned right opposite the buffet which wasn’t the best.||The location - only 0.8 miles to the main resort but in winter you cannot walk anywhere. If there are pavements then they are covered by snow and the road is way too busy to walk on. This was very annoying and not expected given the description on the website. There was a free shuttle bus but it was often late and the last bus left the ski schools an hour before the runs shut. To be fair, when asked the bus driver did pick us up later than scheduled.||The resort - from what we saw it seemed very nice. The skiing was good fun but it’s by far the smallest ski resort in Bulgaria and did get very crowded at times. If travelling from the UK try and fly into Plovdiv otherwise the transfer from Sofia is...
Read moreThe hotel Finnlandia is located in some very quiet woods, isolated from the main resort a distance of 2 km away. The food is decent quality, if unimaginative. The rooms and the entire hotel are extremely clean, and the public areas are well maintained. ||This is a four-star hotel, which is let down badly by the general manager. The staff are very courteous, polite, friendly, In fact they almost behave like friends. However, the general manager often takes liberties with the hotel and staff, for example closing the restaurant on Saturday night for a private party of local pensioners who had come up in a bus for the weekend. Not that I dislike pensioners or locals, However closing my restaurant early for them was not acceptable. Also, the hotel was left down by the fact that it was booked out that week 80% of the guests were schoolchildren who were very noisy and not well supervised by their teachers. This was not the fault of the hotel management or staff., rather that the teachers didn't give a damn what their pupils dead or how noisy they were. ||Overall the hotel is good value the facilities are pretty good too, and also you will get a goodly amount of decent food but it is not al a carte or haute cuisine. ||One final note the wellness facility is absolutely excellent, there is a large very clean pool, sauna steam room Jacuzzi and the master is excellent. This has to be the hotels hidden gem, and excellent value a massage is less than 10 lev. ||We would more than likely return to this hotel, but would avoid the...
