This hotel was one big disappointment. We extended our stay for one more night, but despite reporting it personally at the reception, our room key was never extended. Emails? No answer. Personal requests? Pointless. The service and organization are far below what you would expect from a 4-star hotel.
Check-in took over half an hour – just like the long queues from the old socialist times. On top of that, we were told to come back for wristbands at 3 PM, which meant we couldn’t even have lunch we had already paid for. The restaurant was pure chaos – endless queues, no plates, no cutlery, sometimes not even free tables. And to top it off, tea and coffee were served only in plastic cups – four stars must have gotten lost on the way here. The queues were so long that getting any hot food was impossible – luckily I’m a vegetarian, so I managed to survive on salads. As for the guests? Many behaved as if it was their very first holiday – piling food on their plates only to throw half away, or stuffing bags with fruit as if the world was about to run out of food.
By the pool, different rules applied – sunbeds were “reserved” with towels from early morning, as if a towel were a legal title of ownership. The actual guests were nowhere to be seen for hours, but their towels stood guard faithfully.
In the corridors and in our room there was a strong musty smell, adding to the unpleasant impression. The internet was so weak that it might as well not have existed – sending a carrier pigeon would have been faster.
To make matters worse, on Saturday 16.08 someone (most likely housekeeping) opened our door before 8 AM, waking us up, and immediately closed it. The same thing happened the next day at 8:05. Doesn’t the cleaning staff have any information on which rooms are occupied? That’s a complete lack of respect for guests’ privacy and security.
Fortunately, we stayed only two nights – and then moved to another hotel where we immediately felt the standard that truly matches four stars. Here, the four stars were probably only in the logo. If the owners want to call this a 4-star hotel, they should first get the basics right: proper service, organization, and respect for their guests. I also see that many other guests share the same impressions, so unfortunately this was not an isolated case.
In short – this place discourages you from coming back rather than inviting...
Read moreTo begin with, the receptionist did not give a warm welcome. The man that took us to our room was friendly enough. The room itself was very tired. Old furniture, a terrible smell in the bathroom, no WiFi, just very basic. Very big, as we paid extra to have a suite, but it just meant we had a larger tired room than most. Two bathrooms was a bonus. The food wasn't as bad as we thought it might have been, going on other reviews we had read. All of it was edible, but desserts were very dull (a sort of custard slop in a plastic cup and some watermelon). The animation team was a young man and woman. The woman was fine, but the bespectacled man was an idiot. He questioned mine and my wife's relationship with our son and I told him we were his parents. He said he thought we were his grandparents, then continued to tell me I should dye my grey hair to look younger! Then he asked how old I was, and said "f**k, if you're older than my dad, this is awkward." I had to tell him to stop talking to me. He then stood next to me watching my son kick a football and saying "oh dear" anytime my son didn't kick the ball perfectly. He was an absolute prat. Had to tell him what I thought of him the next day. We never spoke again. The all inclusive bar is in the dining room, and there is, rather oddly, a bar in the main lounge that you pay to drink in!?!? You are asked to move from seats if you haven't paid for a drink, but the pool tables are in this area. We used the pool tables every day (4 lev per game) and on our last night we got drinks from the AI bar to play pool, and the miserable barman came over and told us we could not play and that the tables were broken. 5 mins later, people were using them. An absolute joke. The food staff were generally nice, and so too were the AI bar staff. Lovely cleaning ladies. So many changes need to be made. I would not recommend this...
Read moreAfter landing early hours they had done us a little pack sandwich water fruit I thought this was a nice gesture as other hotels we have been to offered nothing. After being shown up to our room the musty smell was quite strong but learning Balkan hols had gone bust I’m assuming the rooms hadn’t been used for a while. After waking in the morning the room was clean and the musty smell had gone apart from the stain on the 90s sofa I’d just bin these replace. Apart from the hotel rooms being extremely dated we have slept well. The food is ok for the money you will find something you like dining areas kept clean and found the staff doing their jobs clearing tables soon as you finish. We haven’t had any bad experiences with the staff whilst being here as stated in other reviews we have found them to be helpful and happy even with a slight language barrier. There is no entertainment but next door at the sister hotel you will find all entertainment as they the same company if you ask you will be informed. They also do cocktails and a great variety of drinks in the restaurant bar but ask for the cocktail you want the other bar is leased. It is not 4star anymore it’s an older hotel I would put it at a 2 3 star which reflects the price you pay we got a great deal meaning if we didn’t like the food we could always eat out. After reading the reviews I would advise you give this place a chance some real bargain holidays to have here even if you just use it as a base. The pool is ok few sun-beds broken umbrellas broken obviously these have been abused we never had a problem sitting round the pool the life guard on duty was always happy to help.meal times on the door there isn’t massive choice and minimal choice on desserts but again we go back to the price go with an open mind it’s not 4star anymore but it’s a bargain holiday if your in a budget.cleaners...
