Hotel Shipka — Hotel in Nesebar

We traveled as two couples from Romania. We are familiar with bulgarian accomodation, especially in Sunny Beach area.|| Usually we are satisfied with the services offered by Sunny Beach hotels. Until now.|| Problems started from arrival. it was 12:30 when we arrived. We were lucky that they opened the barrier for parking space.|| -Usually they don't open them, you need to go to the reception and tell them to do so.|| || As we expected, the room weren't ready so we waited as told an hour. When we came back, around 14:00, the rooms were still not ready and the girl from the reception told us:|| - Check-in starts with 14, this does not imply that the room will be ready at 14:00.|| So we waited another 30-45 mins.|| || Inbetween the waiting time we discovered that there is no pool. (yes, it's not stated any different but in the pictures there is a pool view from some rooms in a deceptive way).|| || Rooms: old furniture, very bad mattresses. Sand all over the floor, dirty walls, dirty sheets, dirty towels, two sockets occupied by the fridge and TV.|| Pro: AC is working...|| There are NO cleaning services, they only take the bin once in 2 days.|| || Bath: you can easily tell when a neighbor is using the bathroom, by hearing and/or smelling.|| Bonus: there is no bathtub, not even a courtain, you can take a shower while sitting on WC.|| (also bath drain is not working properly, you'll have a lake in the bathroom during your entire stay)|| || Breakfast and dinner:|| || We started with dinner. If you decide to stay here, at least DO NOT BOOK WITH DINNER!|| Dinner starts at 18:30 and ends at 20:00. Our experience was like this: they have one cooked meal (like bulgarian food which is ok), meatballs, fried potatoes, chicken nuggets, bulgarian salad, cabbage salad, watermelon and apples.|| Everything sounds good BUT: they brought fried potatoes & chicken nuggets only at 18:30 and 19:55. So you won't get any of that only if you fight for it. (but you, as us, are in vacation so you won't need this).|| I just ate salads and fruits during my entire stay (4 nights), don't count on the dinner.|| || Breakfast: it is ok. 2 types of salami, cheese, ham, sausages, eggs, jam|| || We are strongly advicing you not to book this hotel. Advertised as a 3* hotel, in fact is a 2* quality. Not very cheap for what it offers. Mediocre service since the check-in.

Pros: Location, 1-2 minutes walk from the beach. Constant water pressure and temperature at shower. Empty mini-fridge. A/C works pretty well. Luggage room and playing room for kids at reception. Mini-golf course with nice little park with benches.

Cons: Staff not exactly aware which rooms are available (evidence is kept on papers and notebooks). No big size bed rooms, only twin bed rooms. Poor refurbishment of rooms, with broken furniture, cracks in the walls, balcony door does not close fit, etc. No shower cabin in bathrooms, you will wash yourself over the toilet and lavatory. Constantly wet floor on entire bathroom, with traces of mold. You will take the water from the bathroom to the main room on shoes every time you use the bathroom. Exactly the same poor menu everyday at breakfast: very small boiled chicken eggs, slices of salted cheese, salami and ham, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, bread with egg, small packs of butter. Also for kids two types of cheap cereals with yogurt and a chemical orange juice. Coffee machine with a tasteless black coffee and cold milk. Lunch and dinner available at extra cost (5 euro/day/person), as a package for entire staying. Cleaning service not available all the time, one room stays two days before it was cleaned. Parking available in the front of the hotel, with limitations. If someone park a car on two spaces instead of one, no one will repark the car to make rooms for other guests. No Wi-Fi, even in public spaces. Loud orchestra at the restaurant in the evenings, fortunately it stops before the midnight. Only one 230V electrical socket available per room (bring your own extension cord). No telephone in room to call for reception or other guests. Old tube TV set with broken remote control and poor TV signal (bring your own boardgames for rainy days). No own pool. Advertised pool is at the next hotel, with...

Well there is a lot of things to tell here. The hotel it wasn t the best hotel we have stayed until now. Maybe we had to think about that before we do the reservation thru booking. We paid 430 leva for 5 nights with breakfast. The price is ok but the conditions wasn t so good. I will try to share my opinion with bad things and good things. It looks like the hotel has a new part ( renovated) and an old part. We had the room on the old part, floor number five Bad things: Very old furniture Old windows Not enought parking places At the breakfast they run out of glasses, coffe, but they quikly change that On our reservation they said that we have a 10% discount if we eat there, but nobody gave you the discount if you didn t tell them about it In the room, there was only one socket available except the one for fridge and the one for tv, located total oposite from the bed No clean sheets in 5 days, only they put toilet paper and change the garbage

Good things: Resonable prices at restaurant Nice staff Good prices for the room Fridge in the room Air conditioning Very nice and quiet terrace where you could drink a beer Close to the beach Mini golf. No charge if you stay at the hotel
