I don’t understand how people have rated this as a 4 star hotel. 2 is better. Our first room was horrible, air conditioner did’t work and in shower the water stayed in the shower cabin, so after 3mins there were dirty water all the way up to your ankles. After that you had to close the shower so that it wouldn’t flood to the bathrooms floor. The TV was a small one from the 80’s. There was also carpeting that was a bit dirty and I wouldn’t be surprised if it had mole in it. ||||But! We complained and got a new room. It had ”wood” floor, big shower, modern TV (with netflix!) and quite new working air conditioner. Double bed’s other side was good, but on the other side when you say down it made a loud noise, and everytime you would turn around in bed. ||||Breakfast was small, and if you don’t eat sausages and eggs you will eat almost only bread at your stay. Butter was super melted and juices (apple and orange) tasted like there had been added water to them - orange juice was so light that it looked more like pineapple juice. Waiter staff didn’t look very professional, just their regular clothes on. ||||The pool area: nice pool bar and tables + chairs. Pool very basic but ok. What I didn’t like was the sunbeds and sunshades. Plastic beds and the cover was soft but super hot ”leather” material. Read moreMy family and I recently spent two days at the Opal Hotel in Sunny Beach. Overall, it was a decent stay, and I would rate it 4 stars, but with a few significant caveats for anyone traveling with small children.
The best part of our experience was undoubtedly the staff. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly friendly and helpful, always greeting us with a smile. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, which we really appreciated.
Our room was also quite satisfactory—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained for the duration of our stay.
However, the location wasn't ideal for our needs. It wasn't particularly convenient for exploring with two small children, and we found ourselves having to walk a bit more than we would have liked to get to the main attractions.
My biggest disappointment, however, was the food. As a family with young kids, we are very conscious of healthy eating. Unfortunately, the food at the hotel's restaurant consisted primarily of processed items, with very few fresh or healthy options. This was a major drawback for us and made meal times a bit of a challenge.
Additionally, the hotel didn't seem to have many facilities or activities geared towards children, which made it less suitable for a family vacation.
In summary, the Opal Hotel is an okay option for a short stay, especially if you value friendly staff and a clean room. However, if you are traveling with small children and are looking for healthy food choices and kid-friendly amenities, this might not be the best...

Eksempel hadde jeg noen øredobber ved nattbordet, som plutselig lå i sprekken mellom senga. Et annet eksempel; hadde lagt en våt bikini på gulvet, som var lagt oppi kofferten min av vaskepersonalet så tøyet var vått. Rommet vårt var strøkent/ ryddig hele tiden under vask, så det var ingen grunn til slurving. ||• Mellom 17- 19 opplevde vi flere ganger at varmtvannet ikke virket. Meldte fra om det i resepsjonen. Da resepsjonist sa fra til sjefen av hotellet, kom han ut og viftet med armene i luften og var sint. Vi ble sjokkert over liten profesjonell oppførsel. De sa at problemet kan ikke fikses.
