Elegance Hotel — Hotel in Veliko Tarnovo

We stayed as the first guests in this newly opened hotel. Great, albeit small rooms, but well-furnished bath rooms. We wrongly made a booking for a single room, as all rooms are displayed as double-twins rooms. Of course we should pay the difference for two persons - but were charged 68 leva instead of the 58 lev which were displayed on the web site we booked from (booking.com) - as we paid in a different currency we did not realise the discrepancy until later, when we had already checked out. Although the hotel stated free Wi-Fi it did not work in our room (number 7). We pointed out to the friendly receptionist that having only a single access point hidden under the reception disk would never be powerful enough to deliver Wi-Fi to the entire hotel - so hopefully this has been fixed since. Travelling from abroad with a foregin car we were wary about leaving the car on the public street. The hotel marketed themselves with free closed parking facilities. In their private courtyard there was room for only a single car besides the owners Audi. Breakfast is OK, but be aware that portions are small and that you need to choose between a set menu of breakfasts. As we chose this hotel based on primarily free wi-fi, free parking and free breakfast, we did not find the value for money expected compared to the many other alternatives in the area. This place appeared to be a lovely place on another website but in reality it is disgusting. On arrival they tried to charge us 150lv which is 3 times the booking price! Then we were taken to the room. The woman could speak no English. The bed was unmade. But we were not going to be worried about this. My partner went to freshen up after long drive to find the bath was minute. Approximately 1 metre long. Not like the photos show. The photos also show lovely made up beds with clean rooms. The photos I have posted show an accurate size of Bath using A4 sheet of paper. The other photos are of the room with the unmade bed and on the walls were excrement. ( poo ) !! This was absolutely disgusting! I could not get hold of the owner as they had locked up and gone home. We spent 90 minutes outside in the cold having to find ourselves alternative accommodation. We went back the following day to get our refund. The booking website and our Bulgarian translator tried to get our money back as they only wanted to give us 10% back ( 5lv). Totally disgusting rude and arrogant staff. We were told that to stop at the hotel we should speak Bulgarian and if we didn't want excrement on the wall we should have cleaned it off ourselves. Decent rooms and OK location. Parking is very tight and it fits 2 cars back 2 back. There's literally no customer service. There's one lady that locks the place after 6pm and she is there just to take your money and give you the keys. Old broken TVs, no room cleaning, no towel changing, no toilet paper unless you ask for it. The breakfast is abysmal so don't pay for it extra. Back garden is not taken care of. Overall quite disappointing...especially...
