I can not believe this place has good reviews on TripAdvisor, they must be fake or paid for reviews. I just had 2 night here at Kep and chose Mealea based on positive reviews and the photos. Well what a dump. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It’s not a resort, it’s no better than a 1970s hostel ( even hostels today are better).||||It was dirty, old, poorly maintained. The room smelt of mould and sewerage and was so unkept. The linen was dirty and had holes in it. The mattress was old and vile and had no mattress protector ( I slept on the bed in shorts and T-shirt). The towels stunk of mould and were threadbare and 1 had a huge hole in the middle. The bathroom was vile and the floor was some type of painted clay and was always wet and stunk of mildew. I showered in flip flops and this is the 1st time I do this in a hotel ever.||||The pool was so dirty and slimy around the edge and the sun loungers were filthy (it would take 5 minutes to clean the lounges but nobody seems to care at this place). The breakfast served up the oiliest eggs I have ever seen and the bottom of the eggs were covered in black crap off the frying pan.||||The staff were unprofessional and at 06:45 each morning arrived to work and were chatting so loud it woke me up and I asked them to be quieter. They were yelling across the gardens to each other as they cleaned the bungalows and had no regard for guest peace and quiet. Very unprofessional behaviour. Nobody was available at check in and the guard took 5 minutes to find staff to help me. Same at the cafe, the staff were never there and you had to go look for the. They all seemed to congregate in a bungalow at the top of the garden for chat sessions.||||Overal, this place is the pits and do not ever stay here. The booking sites list it as 3 stars resort but it is zero stars and it shouldered removed from the major booking search engines...

This hotel has changed owners recently, the new owner really needs to get her act together because that’s not how you do tourism. ||||We had booked the 78$ room with a hot tub on bookings.com. The 1st thing in room was overpowering smell of urine that was trying to be masked by bleach.. eye watering stuff.. but outside to the hot tub.. ummm, 3 of the 4 lights we’re not working and the hot tub was icy cold, it’s location meant it took no sun. I figured there would be a button to heat it up, after asking the very nice, polite and courteous staff member, we were informed that there is no hot in the hot tub.||He then called the owner who said no, no hot tub!||||We asked to more to another room as the reason we had booked was for the hot part of the hot tub..||After a while we were shown another, much smaller, no outside area and no cold hot tub in sight.. it was getting late and when told it was $50 we accepted and sat down for a glass of bubbles, this was our anniversary....||||1 hour later, the and some what embarrassed staff member comes and tells us that they will now charge $60 for the room. I asked to speak with the owner who was just plain rude. She said pay the $60 or get out!||||This was at 8pm on a public holiday weekend .. we ornament course left, we got her to confirm that we would not be charged by bookings.com, her amazing staff member hard too..||||We did find a place that was accommodating and wonderful called Masada resort and half the price||||Next morning an email from bookings.com saying we will be charged due to a no show. ||||After breakfast went back to be rudely told, the time by the owner that if we’d did get charged. You come back I give you refund.||||Oh boy, that little rant felt cathartic.. thanks for following along.. ||||I could have just said||||||Give it a miss, there are lots and lots of much better...

We returned to Mealea after our previous visit 2 years earlier. It is just in such a great location for the Crab market and restaurants. This time we had the room that has its own plunge pool in the garden. The room was huge and the garden was delightful. We didn't use the plunge pool all that much but it was a bit of fun. And it was nice to sit in our little garden and enjoy a few drinks for sure. The hotel is great value in my opinion; it definitely isn't the place to go if you enjoy being waited on hand and foot. Staff are scarce during the day, but that doesn't bother us and if we wanted a drink from the frigde, someone soon appeared to help out. The outdoor furniture is looking a bit worse for wear, but again, didn't bother us.||We enjoyed our return trip just as much as the first time. Kep is changing alot though, so get there soon...

A small resort with multiple bungalow situated just across the street from the sea and 100 hundred meters from crab market, it has its own charm and set back. Rooms are average with its own AC and mini fridge. Minibar is refilled daily. People should book the Deluxe Bungalow facing the garden. There is another one at the back if you'd prefer a little bit of a privacy. Superior room is small though. Suite room has its own jacuzzi and to be honest worth the price difference. Restaurant is a bit rundown however, as there are many restaurants and bar at the crab markets, this should not be an issue. Pool is good. Breakfast option is somewhat limited and not up to par. Overall, if you plan for a family vacation just to breathe Kampot air and lazily sleep looking at the sea, this should be your place.

We had arrived late in the evening but the hotel staff was very gracious and welcoming. He helped us to our rooms and got us situated smoothly. The room it self was very quaint. A part from the bathroom the room was lovely and cozy. The bathroom had older styled plumbing with the electric instant water heater for the shower. I’m not complaining though. Water was nice and hot! I didn’t get to use the pool although I wish I had more time to lounge and enjoy the serene greenery. And considering where we were at I actually did not find one mosquito.

The perfect location next to the Crab Market and not too far from Kep beach. It is so peaceful and surrounded by trees and greenery. Staff cannot do enough for you. I would definitely recommend as the rooms as very traditional Khmer too so they have character. The rooms were also exceptionally clean, everything was pulled out, even by the pool I walked bare foot on the decking and my feet were still clean! As a bonus, there is a great view of the sunset too.
