Happy Beach hotel — Hotel in Koh Rong

This place didn't exist on Google maps so I added it once I arrived here. Low season prices (middle October) are 35$ for the front row bungalows, 30 for the second and 25 for the back (after some haggling , as we are staying for a few nights). Bungalows have: porch, hammock (important) two chill- chairs and some even have a little table. In the room there are fans for each bed, mosquito nets for each bed, a little table, blankets and sheets, toilet paper (we had to ask for it), and cold water shower. Pressure is low but that's ok for an island. Staff is ok so far, only after we asked for their names we got some smiles out of them, try it ;-) Location: just as the "street" or paved road ends, this place starts. It's very close to the pier where the ferries drop or pick you up, and It's right besides a bar that plays loud music on one side while the other side is a bit more quiet. In any case it's better to bring ear plugs if you mind noise. To conclude: Three starts means it's basic, but actually not that bad! It's good for 2-3 people to share a room and prices are good. We stayed for 5 nights in December/ January and had a great time. When reading the reviews for these bungalows we were not sure what to expect as the review's were often less than complimentary. We arrived, checked in and were very satisfied with the bungalow. It was spacious, the bathroom could perhaps do with some work but really overall it was pretty good. We paid 55USD which we thought was fair for that time of the year considering we booked late and the island was full. Wifi was adequate. Great location, just outside of the busy area far enough away from the noise. My wife tried the food a few times and was impressed, i had the beef curry which which was below par. Stayed in one of the bungalows while yes it is up a steep hill it is away from all the craziness and it is quiet. ||The bungalow was clean and mosquito net did its job.The happy elephant bungalows have wonderful views of the ocean.||The main reason I wanted to write this review was to say that Ben at the desk is a lovely turkish guy who was very friendly and kind and chatty.||My phone stopped working 2 days previous to my stay here and on passing by mentioned this to Ben who quickly jumped on his laptop and was onto apple support and 2 minutes later he had my phone up and going again.||I was thrilled to bits that he even took the time to help a damsel in distress!!||For this kindness alone I would recommend to stay...
