The worse place on the island. I was very excited to visit Island. We arrived as a group of four couples. My room was not ready for four and a half hours. The owner was very unprofessional. You would think that he would have the common courtesy to offer us a place to sit at the bar or a drink for letting us book a room and then having us wait an extra four hours on the beach. To top it off when we finally entered our room it was filthy. It smelled rotten and the bathroom had a putrid smell mix of feces and sour paint. The owner was not at all sympathetic or accommodating. The room had two coffee cups with one packet of instant coffee to share between the both of us. The bathroom was disgusting. The walk up the hill to the room was 100 meters long. It was a disaster. Very disappointing. ||Later that night we went to the blue ocean bar which was a part of this establishment. The bartender was extremely rude. The service was horrible. We bought a bottle, food and numerous beers and mixed drinks and asked to request one song and was told they don’t do requests. The music was already horrible. We were initially walking around looking for a lounge when we were approached by someone on the boardwalk. They mentioned the blue ocean bar and we said the music there is depressing and the sound system sounded like computer speakers and was told they would turn it up for us and allow us to play the songs we requested. All of which turned out to be a total lie. Once we ordered we were rudely denied by the bartender of our request. We spoke to the owner of the Ocean View restaurant and he said if the bartender doesn’t want to accept the request then there’s nothing he can do. ||We ended up taking the bottle and going to a nearby restaurant and had an absolute blast with the locals. The staff was extremely accommodating. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant, but it’s nearby. About 15 meters up the hill. Thank god for that place. It saved our trip. ||The Ocean View rooms and Blue Ocean Bar are the worse establishments on the entire island. If I could give them a negative rating I would. Save your time, money and vacation. Avoid this place at...
Read moreIt has so much potential but wow are they wasting it. The only good thing is the view and Wi-Fi I suppose. The gardens are also beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are run down inside, they just didn't end up being as nice as the photos. No towels available to use at the beach or even extra room towels, this is usually a really basic standard for any hotel, let alone one of the most expensive hotels on the island where you'd expect it. ||We figured we'd spend the extra on higher end place to relax on the island but now I've experienced it, this place is so overpriced and not worth the splurge. ||The room advertised things like a TV, daily housekeeping and for some reason a fireplace for example. None of these things actually exist in the room so really it's falsely advertised so who knows what to expect and what you're paying for. ||It's well out of the way and the walk up the hill is annoying. If I go back to Koh Rong I'd stay down on the beach and avoid this place, and save myself probably 50% on accommodation.||We got our laundry done with them and it came back still wet 🤔||It's just a no from me which is a shame because from the outside it looks so cool, it really does have such huge potential...
Read moreLee, the owner, has taken the term 'jack of all trades, master of none' and flipped it on its head, by offering so much, from great rooms, bikes, taxi services, stunning food and great hospitality to an absolute 10/10 standard.
The room was lovely, especially considering the price. The food was amazing every time, always great entertainment every evening, didn't personally stay in the dormitory but heard great things from other travellers.
As great as all the above was, the stand alone was for me was the hospitality, after months of travelling SE Asia I've never felt more welcome. The bar staff were lovely and always up for a chat, Lee was always great to chat to and have a laugh with and overall every member of staff made this wonderful experience something special.
Unless you don't like great service and hospitality, then I encourage anyone visiting koh rong to stay here, or at the very least, come have a drink at their lovely bar to see the brilliant hospitality and...
