Namo Angkor Villa — Hotel in Siem Reap

Could be a really good place. It’s close enough to the busy areas to walk but far enough away to not be loud. It’s also on the way to Angkor Wat. Unfortunately there are a couple things holding it back. WiFi network is only good in one area and often does not stretch to the rooms. Accessing WiFi in your hotel room is the whole point of having WiFi in a hotel. That was disappointing. I also had a wonderful meal here and then I ordered it again the next day and it came out a totally different color. I am not kidding. I declined the meal after showing them the picture and said I would eat somewhere else. They came to my room after trying to make it again and even the second attempt was different. Also the rooms could be cleaner. This is a budget hotel so I am not expecting luxury. But that doesn’t mean you can’t clean the dust and cobwebs off the lamps that are by the bed. Horrible experience - the 'villa' doesn't have most of what they advertise their rooms to have. Room didn't have a terrace, coffee making facilities... The list goes on. Staff were rude at best, with the owner swearing at us when we asked that he do his maintenance of our room the following day, (rather than immediately, 20 mins after we checked in). Worst was that there was an aggressive altercation between the staff at 4 am, when we were forced to scale the locked security gate to make the Anchor Wat sunrise (the 'secutiry guard' just could not be woken!) Finally, advertising photos appear to be from a different time, when the accomodation had common areas and furniture. Not bad! Close to Angkor wat. Easy cycle. We rented bikes elsewhere because the bikes they had here were a bit shabby. Guy running it was nice. First room we had (named: Bayon) the drain in the shower smelled awful, had to keep the bathroom door shut or the whole room would smell. Also the exterior water pump goes off every minute throughout the night and was very loud even with the window shut. He did move us on request and the second room was much better. (Bottom floor, front room). More light, further from the pump). Rooms are a nice and big. Not sure the sheets were cleaned in the second room. Breakfast...
