July 6th first room #* the Whole room was absolutely disgusting, Walls were dirty and looked like they hadn't been washed in years, The bathtub had dirt all through it and hadn't been washed. And the whole place just stunk, of smoke, dirt, and sweat. I think it would have been bad, even being a janitor's closet. My son went and got the Front desk person to show him. He came and looked at stuff and said " There's a motel down the street. That is way worse than this and is double the price." All I can do is give you your money back, I told him that I could not leave as I had nowhere else to go, and there was nowhere else to stay in calgary because of stampede. He then said that there was another room, but he can't guarantee it will be clean, and they did not have any cleaners there to clean. We went to the next room #. I went to the bed and lifted the blankets, And it was the same thing. The sheets were dirty. There was hair all over and crumbs on the bed. This room also smelt awful. He said see, " I thought it would be the same" But this is the only room we have. So if you spend one night in here, we will put you upstairs tomorrow, after the cleaners have went through the room. This room was just as bad, The bar soap had been opened and used, the floor was caked with dirt, after half hour my feet were absolutley black!! and the bed skirts we're beyond filthy. The cupboards were moldy and the outside door was nailed shut. We had no choice but to stay there, so we went and bought some blankets to sleep on and cover up with instead of using the motel blankets. The next day we were moved to #. I walked over to the bed, moved the blankets and again, the sheets were not clean, they were stained and had dirt and hair on them, This room had been remodeled I guess, So the only good thing what's the bathroom, and even then the toilet was broken. I was happy that there was a balcony so that I could stand out there to get fresh air, because this room smelled terrible as well. I was hoping the air conditioner would work, but that only works for about ten minutes and then it goes to hot air, And the temperatures were over 36*degrees outside. When we went out on the balcony we noticed that it was slanted, We looked and the whole balcony along the whole motel is coming undone. Only half of it is still holding on, and that is the bottom half. The morning after we got put into the 3rd room, somebody, Knocked on our door at 8:00am, We didn't answer because we were still sleeping. Then they started trying to use their card to get in, this went on for about fifteen minutes before my son got up, and answered the door, The maid said that she wanted to give us clean towels, which after this, we never received for 3 days after asking for them. At that point I was absolutely terrified to even stay there anymore. I didn't feel safe, I felt very dirty, and after this happened I felt invaded. When we walked out on to the balcony, we realized that it was unsafe. The whole run of top balconies are connected, but they are literally detached from the hotel. The screws have come out of the wall, And looks like the whole run is going to come down very soon. This is a safety concern, As there are, people walking under it, as well as parking under it. 3 days after arriving and 3rd room, the manager called me to come down and speak with her. She offered to give me twenty five dollars off our stay, and I refused it. After long talks and her begging me not to go to head office. She gave me one night free stay, She acted like she did me a favor, We paid $209.00 per night, When it usually goes for under $100. I checked reviews, and I saw this at four star hotel, It must have been friends leaving reviews. Because honestly, I would not give this two stars. This is the worst stay I've ever had in my life, and seriously traumatized me, and my son. I left most of my possessions in my car, as I just could not trust anything about this place. Please be aware if you have to stay here. I would feel so awful if the balconies fell...
Read moreI spent three weeks travelling in Canada, and the Econo Lodge Motel Village was the only bad experience I had in terms of accomodations: The woman at the reception when I checked in on Aug. 22 was very unfriendly and unhelpful—something I had never experienced in my three weeks in Canada. The first problem was that the key card she gave me wouldn’t open the door to my room. When I went back to reception to report the problem, the woman admonished me that I shouldn’t keep the key card next to my phone, because it would then become “demagnetised”. She issued me another set of cards, but these didn’t work either, so I went back to her. She (very “put upon”) returned to the room with me and tried the card herself, which she managed to make work after several attempts (she said I “had to put it in very slowly and then take it out again very slowly”). I said I simply wanted a card that worked reliably, so she said she would programme another one for me, and walked back to the reception. While I waited for her to bring a new card, I started to unpack. And then I waited and waited. She never returned. After a while, I propped the door open and walked back to the desk. She was just sitting there. I asked her, what about the new card? She said, oh, it’s right here. She never apologised for the inconvenience or made any attempt to make things right. After unpacking and going out for a bite to eat, I returned, spending several minutes trying to get into my room before the card worked, and saw that the security chain on the door was broken off. I returned to the reception and told the woman that there was no chain on my door. She replied: “Well, I guess it’s just broken. But it doesn’t matter—just lock the door from the inside, and no one can get in”, and went back to what she was doing. That’s ridiculous, of course—anyone with a master key card could just walk into my room at any time. By this time I had had enough. I found a customer service number on the internet (there was no such number to be found in the room or on the motel’s website), called it, and talked to a very nice, helpful person named (I think) Jam, who took down all the information and said he would create a report and send an email to the motel manager. The next morning, I went back to the desk, where there was a different woman—very nice and helpful. She immediately got the maintenance man to look at the lock (he just cleaned it with a special card and it worked immediately, so there was no problem with the key cards at all), and asked him to replace the chain, which he had done by the end of the day. All in all, after a very bad start, everything worked out ok. But the motel manager, who presumably got an email about the problems, never reached out to me. I’m sorry, but I will not be returning to the Econo Lodge Motel Village and would not recommend it to...
Read moreWould never visit again or recommend anybody. We travelled all the way from North of Manitoba and upon reaching the destination, we find out the guy at the front desk (Kumar) didn't like how our booking was done from 3rd party and cancelled our reservation saying guest misbehaviour with no refund after handing out room keys, parking pass and wifi pass, wasting almost 3 hours of our time at registration desk with 2 senior citizens and 2 small kids under 5. I hope everything's on camera. Moreover, he impersonated himself as the manager of property, to which when we complained to choice hotels, they denied the person being a manager. Choice hotels did file a complaint, I might press personal charges later on the guy for impersonating somebody else and threatening to call cops on us just because we asked him to help us out. EDITED TO REPLY OWNER:
No sir, we agreed upon the rules and regulations but you went on asking where is that one extra person staying, that is none of your business as long as we are following the rules of the property and when everything was settled which made you hand over room keys, parking pass and wifi pass cards you still were bullying the girl saying 'your job will be in danger and I could complain your manager'. Buddy, you have no authority to talk anything personal about your guests unless a compliment. Do your job what you are supposed to with a smile on your face and not be a pain to customers, especially in a hotel industry. What a shame it brought down to the company and you by carrying yourself in such a pathetic manner. Even other guests waiting to be served didn't bother to rush to be helped because they understood what you were trying to do. We were courteous enough to have them get their thing done, to which they even replied its okay, but we insisted them to get helped at the desk. Such a wicked person for any...
