This is a fantastic community hub. Besides ample space to read and study, there is usually some activity happening. It's nice to see that it's often busy and there are activities for all ages and abilities. The staff are extremely accommodating and really seem to care about their library and its patrons.
For a smaller library in the city, the book selection is excellent and appears frequently weeded. Interbranch requests usually arrive in a couple of days to be collected. It's very handy. There are a couple of free to use printers and chromebooks to borrow.
The kids area is open and has a selection of toys on rotation. The layout helps cooperative play and my kids love visiting. The book selection is excellent, especially for younger readers and there are small selections of children's books in languages other than English. For older kids, there are usually tables set up for craft or other activities away from the main reading area.
Being an open space it can be noisy occasionally but without a dedicated reading room (e.g. Central Library), I think it's achieved the best possible use of space. There is also an Annex which is sometimes used...
Read moreZero star to staff member who was there last Friday. The queues on printers were extremely long and reaching the staff desk. Library patrons in front of both printers were just holding the lines and not knowing what to do so others can proceed with printing. She was chatting informally with others. When a very nice gentleman asked politely the library staff to come and help the patron at the printer, she came and accused the gentleman who asked for resolving the issue with interference. She called the security person who was petting a dog inside the library near the entrance and asked him to tell the gentleman that he is banned. The security guy approached the gentleman and started sneaking at the gentleman’s phone and saying in a loud voice you are banned and kept repeating and repeating the same where all people were hearing that. As someone who watched that, I decided not to go to this location due to the unprofessionalism of the staff member and security person. There should be corrective actions taken towards the staff member and security person in question and will only delete this rating if realized that this has taken...
Read moreIt is a cozy and lovely library. Library staff are so polite and full of energy and always answer you with a smile. A small area for children exists as well. I like the atmosphere of the library, especially the architecture because there are windows all over the library which benefit from the daylight. In addition, outside view from inside the library is very beautiful. Louise Riley Library has a excellent access to public transport. Lion's Park station is a few meters in front of the library door and you have access to the bus stop exactly in front of the door which supports more than 5 bus lines. You can go shopping or take various types of delicious food in Northland Hill Centre near the library in the left side. I recommend you to go Louise Riley library and experience study in a cozy and warm place. I will be appreciated if you follow me and help me to discover beautiful Calgary and other places of Canada together with your comments and let me know if my idea is...
