If I could provide NEGATIVE or ZERO stars, I would. Whomever gave full stars was either extremely lucky or had exceptionally low standards. I stayed at this location towards the start of the year and it was the worst hotel stay in my entire life. The room smelt like a dirty ash tray, there was smeared dried up unknown substances on the furniture, mold in the bathroom shower on the tiles and grout, and mildew and calcium build up all around the shower faucet. The water from the bathroom sink had a fowl taste. The room looked like it not been properly vacuumed in months as there was dust and debris all along the corners of the walls, under the bedskirts, and around the furniture. The sheets on the bed also had stains. Most disturbingly, I received bites from bed bugs and had to seek medical attention. The area was sold out for hotels or I would have transferred elsewhere. While I received a refund on the cost of my room as the hotel admitted the room was not to their 'standards', they denied there was any activity of bed bugs - a quick Google search of the reviews and I found two then recent complaints of bed bugs in the last few months, as well as a review of a year or so prior of bed bugs in the very same room I stayed in (all are still available in Google reviews)! I had my home apartment treated professionally as a precaution, twice, and there was no signs of any activity, none in my entire building, and I had not visited elsewhere - so to say nothing was found in the room I stayed in, when the entire hotel has a history of uncleanliness and bed bugs, really? A bug could be transferred by housekeeping so an infestation not being fully present in one room is not sufficient to state there is no activity in the building at all. If I was not staying for a corporate event, I would have pursued this further, however I was at risk of complicating my relationship with my employer. Colleagues of mine also had unpleasant and similar experiences. Though this review is from earlier in the year, I felt I should still share the experience in hopes that I might spare others from potentially having to go through what I did. I've not been able to travel and stay in hotels feeling comfortable as a lingering result of this experience. If you stay here - take precautions. Bring your own disinfecting wet wipes to clean surfaces, and your own bottled water - even bring your own towels & pillow. Keep your luggage away from the bed, carpet, or other material surfaces (couch, chair, cushions). Immediately treat all your belongings once you return home to avoid potentially transferring any critters elsewhere. I posted this review yesterday, but removed and reposted under my private account for my privacy. BW did respond politely to that...
Read moreI was expecting a basic, but functional room. I received neither. The 1st room I was offered, on the first floor had soggy carpets with a foul odour. It immediately triggered an asthma attack in my family member. The 2nd room offered, on the third floor was no better as it also smelled badly of mold.
Staff apologized saying there was “a lot of rain” recently. That’s unacceptable. You cannot rent rooms with significant, unresolved water damage.
The 3rd room, 713, I accepted only because I was told there was nothing left. My family of 4 was forced to sleep in a single king sized bed because there were no other rooms or rolling cots available as the hotel was completely booked.
We got the cot on the 2nd night only because we asked multiple times. It did not come with a pillow and there were no spares in the closet.
The A/C unit smelled of mold every time it came on. The whole room continued to have a dampness about it during the entire 3 night stay. The toilet ran constantly and twice we had to take the lid off (exposing us to more mold) to press the flapper down so the tank would fill and the toilet could be flushed. There was no hot water in the shower.
3 nights without any housekeeping service is unacceptable. We ran out of everything. We had to ask for everything including towels and toilet paper. Every request was met with “they don’t pay for housekeeping staff on weekends.” If you don’t want to pay to properly staff your hotel on weekends, then you shouldn’t offer rooms for rent on weekends.
The bathrooms in the pool area had an overwhelming sewer odour making it impossible to use them. By Sunday there were only a couple of towels left, and the dirty towels were overflowing.
The coffee machine was constantly jamming or didn’t fill the cup. Breakfast items were exactly the same on Saturday and Sunday. We did notice the BW branded waffle iron came out on Monday. I guess that too is the difference between weekend and weekday guests.
Everything about this hotel screams “neglect”. When we checked out, I was told that I’d be refunded a portion of our stay. I’m still waiting for that to hit my credit card. I was asked to give them another chance in the fall as the hotel will be renovated in September. A full reno sounds like a good idea but if you don’t maintain it and properly staff it, some redecorating isn’t helpful.
Overall, the staff (what little there were) tried very hard to make it work. But they simply haven’t been given the resources to provide excellent customer service.
All of this has made me rethink using Best Western hotels...
Read moreJust finished a 2 night stay in what was probably my most disappointing hotel stay I have experienced. It started off ok check in was smooth the woman at the hotel check out was very nice. The room was clean enough at first glance with signs of wear, peeling wall paper, old carpeting and black mold in the shower grout. It was kinda dingy but liveable. The following morning, found out the shower didn't drain properly and didn't want to have shower ankle deep in a bathtub that didn't look that clean and was clogged with someone else's hair. So after telling the the saff of the issue they tried to rectify the problem with a new room which was great of them, except the new room was worse than the first one. The first impression was an overwhelming smell of mold and mildew, and cheap perfume. There was mold on the carpet by the window, more mold in the bathroom and another tub that didn't drain. After telling the staff that the room was gross got to interact with hotel management. Just another delight, he was very condescending about the matter. Or maybe he just rubbed me the wrong way. They then "upgraded" me to a junior suit. And OH BOY! The luxury. The complimentary sherdded cheese on the rug and half eaten Boston pizza in the fridge, the rustic feel of a heater that wasn't on ( that was partially on me the switch in a closets was turned off found it before check out). But hey... could not see or smell mold and had a tub that drained so figured this was probably they best they had to offer. If you want to spend $120 dollars a night and have that authentic pay by the hour motel feel this would be my...
