My family and I had booked this hotel for a one night stay prior to heading back to the mainland.
While the hotel room itself was renovated with plank flooring, and relatively decent beds, bathroom, etc we ran into a serious problem.
Upon arrival there were not many other guests at the hotel, and we acquire a room in the forward building on the second floor. Upon return from an evening supper we found that there were numerous guests at the building.
When my wife attempted to have a shower that evening she found the water did not function in the tub very well, and was almost non-existent coming out of the shower. However, previously the water in the sink, toilet, etc. worked alright - enough so we did not notice anything in that regard.
I contacted the front desk who noted they would have to call in maintenance to look at the system, at which point I stated that would keep my 7 year old daughter up well past a late time as it was. I asked if I would be compensated due to the very serious issue and the front desk person noted that would be up to the owner. I never heard back from anyone the next morning nor to date.
I've had my own water handling, piping, and pressure business for ~30 years and am well experienced in this. My belief is that the lack of pressure was due to increase in the usage by other people at that time of evening, and the water system could not keep up. A simple solution is to provide a circulation pump that will provide more water at a higher pressure - to provide each/every client with the requisite pressure required (or if they had one it clearly failed and should have been replaced).
It is apparent this hotel did not have an adequate water system provision regardless of what was wrong, and therefore should not be providing the full/partial capacity they did. Or fix the system, replace the water system - whichever it is to provide the services that we paid ~$225 for in this location.
I would most certainly recommend that you look for any other hotel in the area rather than this one as the rooms are not worth it, and the owner response will leave you wishing you never heard of the hotel.

Read moreMy friend booked the room at Laurie's Inn through Booking.com. When we arrived, it did not look like the pictures online. It was really rundown, the stairs were damaged, the key didn't work, and there were cinder blocks and wood lying around. The building is called "Harbourview" but you can barely see the harbour - the view is just of another rundown building. The room smelled musty, the bedding was stained, and the mini bottles of shampoo and soap were used and half-empty. The tv was on a stand that looked like an old cat scratching post - covered in old carpet. I have environmental allergies and within minutes of being inside the room my eyes and throat were scratchy and I started to cough. The third member of our group also was having an allergic reaction to something My friend let the staff know we couldn't stay in the room. They offered another room but it smelled the same, so we let them know we were leaving. She said she couldn't refund the money since it was through Booking.com. My friend contacted Booking.com, but when they contacted Laurie's Inn, they refused to refund us. We are now out over $200 for a room we didn't stay in. Fortunately, we were able to get a room on short notice at Ocean View, down the road. It was lovely and clean, and had an ACTUAL ocean view. It was less money than Laurie's and worth every penny. I rarely give reviews, but feel I need to warn people about this place. It was just...
Read moreStayed at Laurie's Motor Inn (with Breakfast Buffet) Cheticamp, Nova Scotia from 8/8/2024-8/12/2024 Both the motel and the breakfast buffet were an utter disappointment. The oldest section which is located next to the road and the dining room had poor parking, and the door was difficult to unlock.(room 3) That section was really rundown and probably should be torn down. However, The room was quiet and air conditioned. There are two other buildings in the motel, so I can’t attest to the quality of those rooms. The motel itself has seen its better days– it seemed like a number of things were broken, including the ice machine. The laundry area was dirty and unkempt. I hear that at one time Laurie’s was the belle of the town- but not now. Note they no longer serve dinner. As for the breakfast buffet (included with the room), I don’t expect much from a breakfast buffet and that ‘exactly what we got. The eggs were cold and tasteless, the potatoes not quite fried and very dry and tasteless, and whatever the protein was- possibly bologna, was awful. The coffee tasted like instant, not fresh brewed. The pancakes were OK. I would not advise staying at or eating at Laurie’s. We found breakfast at other places. Rated 1 out of 5 for both the room...
