Staff are rude and don't communicate, my coworker and I stayed there and were originally booked for 4 nights, when we were checking in, it was a lady from the bar then came to help us, well we definitely felt like an inconvenience to her, we told her we were staying only 3 nights as work plans have changed, she still charged us for 4 nights and said we'd get a refund at check out, which made no sense to me whatsoever, the day after checking in, my coworker had to bring down a different credit card, a Philippino lady was helping us, apparently she didn't listen either when she asked us if we're checking out Monday, my coworker said no, we're checking out on Sunday....So apparently no one listens there and still do not pur notes on our guest files. Housekeeping went into my room after the 2nd night; even though I had my do not disturb sign on the door handle, my stuff was touched, basically invaded my privacy by entering the room without permission. When we went to check out, we were in a bit of a hurry, the guy at the counter told us the refund would be put back onto our credit cards from their system and didn't physically need our cards, which didn't make sense but ok. I called the day after we got back to where we're from and it was quite late, so I called the day after to confirm that we were getting our refund, it was the philipino lady on the phone, thinking she was going to be reasonable, she started to argue with me after I said on the phone, the lady with the long black hair from the bar checked us in and we told her we were checking out on Sunday, and my coworker told you the next day we were checking out on Sunday, but conveniently she doesn't remember, so now I feel this is going to be battle for my coworker and I to get our 1 extra day charge refunded, oh yes, they charge you for checking out early, I worked in the hotel industry for 3yrs working the front desk, and unless you were checking out REALLY late, you were never charged for leaving your stay early and staff members actually communicated with one another and left notes on guest files...Also, the key cards barely worked, when we checked in, our room keys weren't working to open the door to go up the stairs to our rooms(there's no elevator and we were on the 3rd floor), my coworker went to inform the lady from the bar, well wasn't that a hassle that she had to come help us, and she could barely use the keycard herself to open the door. I understand you get what you pay for, but staff can still be polite to guests. The rooms smelled must with a hint of lemon, or like they were cleaned with dirty mop water, the kitchenette looked for outdated and like something might catch fire, so we both didn't use them. Unless your work is covering the bill for your stay, I would NOT recommend...
Read moreThis hotel does not warn you online, if you book a non smoking 🚭 room and none are available they swap you to a smoking room. This happened to me and the stench in the room was unreal. I asked for a refund to go elsewhere as the bathroom fan did absolutely nothing to reduce the unreal and absolutely horrendous smell in the room. They swapped me to a larger non smoking room. The bathroom had a funny odor in it and it did have some plumbing issues visibly apparent. But they cleaned the room every day and I got clean towels each day as well.
Overall I'd rate this motel 3.5 stars. They do clean them daily which is why I bumped the rating up a bit more. But there is lots of traffic all night driving by so it is not quiet here as lots of traffic in Lloydminster apparently don't have mufflers. So expect to be woken up every hour or so as vehicles rev their engines outside your window extremely loudly. And no elevator here so it's all stairs. You carry your stuff to whatever floor using stairs.
Pros: cheap and cleaned daily Cons: stairs, funky odors, loud traffic,...
Read moreHad a reservation for 3 nights, two rooms. Took the lady at the front desk a good 30 min to find our reservation. Kept saying she didn’t have any rooms. Finally found one room but couldn’t find the second, even though it was under the same name. It was late, and we were tired… Make sure you make your reservations online as booking through the hotel itself is over $40 a night more than the online prices. The hotel is in a rundown part of town, and from the outside looks very old and rundown. Could use some updating. The inside is clean, and spacious enough, but don’t expect queen sized beds, two full sized beds is all you get. Would also be nice to have blackout curtains rather than the blinds you get especially in the summer with the long days. Also there is only a shower, no tub. Small kitchenette includes a sink, with two burner stove, a microwave, and a small fridge. The “continental breakfast” included a stale chocolate chip muffin, an orange, and coffee. Good luck if you don’t...
