Stepping into Indian Kitchen Bar and Grill in Lloydminster, Alberta, was instantly impressive. This is, without a doubt, one of the cleanest and most professional-looking Indian restaurants I have ever visited. The space is remarkably spacious and spotlessly hygienic, setting a high standard right away. The food quality and attentive service made the entire experience truly exceptional, feeling just like a homemade meal. The breads were the highlight of the night. We ordered the Naan, the simple layered Paratha, and a perfect stuffed naan, all of which were incredibly fresh, fluffy, and tasted authentically homemade. For our appetizer, we chose the Malai Chaap, and it was heavenly. The dish was beautifully complemented by a side of rice and a refreshing mint chutney. It was a perfect start to the meal. We also thoroughly enjoyed their selection of drinks, specifically the Pale Ale, which was an amazing accompaniment to the spicy food. The Butter Chicken was top-notch—the true test of any Indian restaurant. The spices were perfectly balanced: it wasn't overly sweet, nor was it overwhelmingly spicy. Every flavor note was exactly where it should be. I must also take a moment to specifically thank the chef who prepared our meal; I can truly imagine the professional skill and dedication required to achieve such perfectly balanced flavors. Finally, I must commend the service. The two servers who took care of us were amazing. They were consistently attentive, checking on our table multiple times throughout the meal to ensure we had everything we needed. A Special Note for Friends in Cold Lake (and Nearby Areas): Yes, it's about a two-hour drive to get to Lloydminster, but I promise you, this trip is absolutely worth it for this quality of Indian food! If you are in the region and craving authentic, perfectly spiced Indian food and stellar service, look no further. This place is an...
Read moreOn Sunday, June 2, my friends and I went out for dinner. Upon entering the restaurant, we decided to sit on the patio. I politely asked the server, that was at front, if we could sit there, and she agreed. As we were walking to the patio, my friends and I continued our conversation in our native language.
Unexpectedly, Parveen interrupted our conversation and asked if I had said something abusive. I explained that I was talking to my friends, not to her. Parveen then asked if I was drunk, which stunned me. Despite this, I remained polite and clarified that none of us were speaking about her.
Another server approached us and, in a very polite manner, explained that there had been a misunderstanding, and she apologized for the incident. However, Parveen did not bother to acknowledge her mistake or offer an apology. They justified her behavior by stating that someone from the same ethnic background had abused one of their servers last week, and they sometimes have to be rude in response.
I found this reasoning unfair. We had not been abusive, and it is not right to generalize the behavior of one person to an entire group. Parveen should have sought clarification instead of making assumptions about us being drunk. An apology from her would have been appropriate. I felt disrespected and undeserving of such treatment, especially when we had done...
Read moreThe place is wonderful! The layout of the restaurant is so clean and spacious. The service was kind, had a sense of humour and were timely. Then there was the food!
The food was some of the best food we've had in a long time. The spinach dip alone was so good we ate every bit of the soft, fluffy- seemingly baked, wedges. We even ate the remaining sauce like it was a seperate dish of its own. (It was so good I forgot to take a picture 😂) We love our spinach dips, and this one is by far my favourite right now.
We were already full from the side, so when the main courses came we already asked for boxes. However, we did try it first and they were also amazing. The curries get a hot level from 1-5 and the range is nice to have. I ordered a lv2 Coconut Chicken and it was perfect, my husband ordered a lv4 Butter Chicken and it was exactly how he likes it. Even the rice was well seasoned and gave you options on how to pair it with sauces (it wasn't just one type of standard rice). I loved the portion sizes and the prices too were fairly affordable considering everything we ordered.
I am definitely coming back and it may be our new favourite for...
