First visit to Dauphin in over a decade so had no idea where to stay. This looked like it had decent enough reviews and a bit cheaper than other options. So I took a chance. And I'm glad I did. ||||Super clean, comfortable bed that didn't make my bad back complain, great pillows. Bathroom looked like new fixtures with new stand up shower (no tub). Shower had strong pressure so I didn't feel like I had to rinse my hair for half hour like some places. Sink, coffeemaker, microwave look newer, too. Even the outdoor patio furniture and BBQs looked newer and clean. Grounds are well kept and trimmed, even with potted trees by some rooms that don't need to be there but look nice. ||||Only drawback I noticed was that the screen door had some gaps between door and frame at top and bottom. So that'd explain the few flies who got in the night before while I had the inside door open for awhile to enjoy the summer air. But that's just the way it is for motels where the room is entered from the parking lot. ||||I checked out as planned after my first night. But I unexpectedly ended up needing to stay in Dauphin a second night so I was back again for Night Two. Why mess with a good thing? ||||Front desk was friendly and helpful and didn't mind my late check in on Night One. But I feel bad about that since this isn't a place with a nightshift, just friendly longsuffering owners I'm guessing. ||||McDonald's is a few steps in one direction, Tim's a few steps in the other. DQ and BP across the road, Smitty's down the road. ||||Overall, it's a place where the owners/operators clearly take pride in taking care of their property...
Read moreI made the reservation by phone. We needed two rooms and although they do not have adjoining rooms had assigned two rooms side by side at the time of booking. When we arrived we were advised that someone who stays at the motel often asked for a smart TV and so they gave away one of our rooms leaving us 4 rooms apart. There is a door to a hallway where the housekeeping staff enters the rooms for cleaning. Early in the morning we heard noise in the hallway and then a loud knock at the door from housekeeping and she was rude telling me that she didn't see a vehicle in front of our door so she assumed we weren't there. The toilet looked like it needed cleaning but when I addressed this issue with the owner, she attributed it to hard water - we have hard water where I live and I don't have rings on my toilet if I clean it. She did apologize for the housekeeping being loud and rude. There was no apology for giving away our rooms and no compensation for any of it. I am not sure that I would stay there again. I also felt that the price was high...
Read moreThis was my third year participating in the MS Riding Mtn. charity bike ride, and my third different hote lin our starting point of Dauphin! You have a choice of 3 in the south of town - Super 8, Canaway and the Prairie Mtn. The difference is which is newer, and thus a bit more money. Super 8 is definitely more more modern, so you pay more. The Canaway is more 'established', but certainly clean and a fair price. It also has a Smitty's restaurant connected. But the PMI is more than adequate for a short stay. It's clean, there's plenty of room, and it was quiet. It was also less expensive. Quite frankly, you won't go wrong with any of them, but,if you'd rather spens some money on a meal than extra for the room, just book the Prairie...
