Briarwood Bed & Breakfast — Hotel in Elmsdale

B & B you rent first all to know from the best house hosts in which you will be staying in the night.In this case was completely different.And no one came to us to greet us, we had to communicate by phone to meet with Mr. Con at 8PM. When I booked a room for 3 people I agreed price and it was supposed to stay according to my expectations. Despite all I contacted Mr. Con before arrival to explain to me where is the second bed in the picture in the Briar room. For the second bed I have to pay in addition. I did not change the decision because it was the first signal about the ambiguous ordering of three people I decided to stay with the wife and son to stay in the so-called Victorian home. I do not know whether it is a fault a landlord who can hide the information or places where you order room for three persons . Another not very pleasant surprise was the attention to take off shoes despite the feeling was stealthy in the middle of the kitchen. My son who suffers from allergies began to complain of the first symptoms of walking barefoot on dirty carpets and floor.After payment we asked about the kitchen to eat dinner and was 8:30 PM.He asked what we are going to eat and the kitchen does not for guests he said . We were allowed to eat on a dirty table.We asked for hot water was also told not. The entrance to the family room was forbidden.The breakfast bags were confiscated by the TSA at the airport due to fluid and the food in the kitchen was not free. Briar room- bath and sink clogged, bedding smelled bad. 2 nights in the Quince Room - immediate take always.. this is a B&B that is cutting some corners and its negatively effecting the experience. Had to take off my shoes when entering? I can still smell the entryway- dog and feet. Zero hot water in 'soaker tub' (was pretty small) and only warm water in shower. So many spiders and webs, oh my gosh... so many. The train woke us constantly.. so loud. 1 ply TP in the bathroom? Oh and the bed... this was an inexpensive memory foam topper on a thin intersprint bed that could have been purchased at a discount market - was so uncomfortable. And i had to give my card info either over the phone or via email? in this day you should be able to do everything online. I also kinda felt pressured to give a tip when i had to give my card again at checkout. It almost seemed like a changing if the guard? Like Con was passing this B&B to a younger gal? She was very nice and made good eggs.

It was nice that breakfast was offered and the grounds were very green and pretty.

This was the first traditional B&B that my wife and I had ever stayed at and we were so pleased. We only stayed one night at the end of our Nova Scotia vacation so that we could be close to the airport (easy 10 min drive away). It is a charming old house but in wonderful condition. We stayed in the Quince room, upstairs (keep in mind no elevators) and it was spacious enough with its own private bathroom. Immaculately clean and comfortable. Very large bathroom. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. We were asked how we like our eggs and then there was bacon and were plenty of pastries and juice. Unlimited coffee was available. So many places to relax and enjoy the coziness of the house. I especially enjoyed the large outside setting in the back of the house. Con, the owner, was so kind and attentive. He made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Highly recommend this beautiful place. (Also highly recommend Bitars Ristorante for dinner, an easy walk from the B&B.
