On Cape Breton this counts as a fancy place, sort of, but anywhere else it would just be... a hotel. We knew it was for golfers but reviews, website and a phone conversation with someone onsite made us think it would be a good place to stay even though we don't golf. Don't make that mistake! |Immediate poor impression when you discover that your room is on the 2nd floor, there's no elevator, and the rooms open directly to the outside. Maybe they don't want golf stuff in hallways? Anyway it's unpleasant.|The worst thing was that the housekeeping was atrocious, when it even existed. On check in we noticed there was nothing to whiten the coffee, not a problem, there's a fridge and we picked up some cream. It was the next morning when we discovered that there were no coffee cups, ceramic, paper, or otherwise. The phone didn't work so I had to go to reception, in a different building, to ask for coffee cups, and let them know the phone wasn't working. It took 10 minutes for them to find us some mugs. Since I actually thought they would clean the room I left a post-it note "Please don't take our mugs". But they didn't clean the room regularly, in fact just once in a 6 night stay. And, no lie, that was because I went to reception and requested it specifically. There was a dead fly fairly prominent on the carpet, which I left intentionally, and it was still there when we returned. One morning they knocked just before 10 as we were walking out the door, coats on, backpacks ready, one of us just lacing boots, and we said give us 5 minutes... when we returned that afternoon they had NOT cleaned the room. The other days someone would appear just before 4:00, when we were back and just wanted to relax. So we just got new towels. And the phone was never repaired.|Then there's parking. Every day you have to find a place to park. One evening we came back and there were no spaces at all. We asked one of the guys near reception and he was like, I guess you can park in a handicapped space?|It's a place made to extract money. Luckily we ate breakfast in our room and were able to pack lunches, and we did have a couple of dinner reservations elsewhere (do go to Woodroad if you can get in). The Coore's lobster shack was the worst meal we had in a month in Nova Scotia. We shared 2 appetizers, 2 glasses of wine and a dessert and it was icky and cost over $200. The lobster we shared was OK. The rest, not. They make an OK pizza at Whit's, and we did enjoy watching the Jays play... Panorama is also OK but ridiculously expensive for what you get, which was forgettable (try Glenlora Distillery).|It's a nice enough location but the view is of the golf course and it's basically too far from the park. Really, only go there if you want to golf. If you're a hiker and you want west side for access to Skyline Trail, stay in Chéticamp or even Belle Cote. We found some lesser known but lovely hikes in Inverness but you wouldn't go there for that...
Read moreThe Links and Cliffs golf courses are exceptional and are worthy of their high ratings. The par 3 Nest not so much, 100-120 yard pitch and putt with not a great deal of variation. Not sure that even playing the Nest under the lights at night (The Nest has night lighting) would make it any more enjoyable. We stayed in a 3 bedroom Hillside Home that was very nice with all the amenities required and very nice beds and great views.|When you visit a resort that aspires to be world class, that charges world class rates, you should expect world class service. Our experience was considerably less on a number of fronts.|1. Caddies were mediocre at best. Lacked an understanding of basic golf etiquette. |2. At the back shop at the Links on our second day the weather was very poor with constant rain and expected high winds. As we were heading to the first tee with our umbrellas, one of the back shop staff asked if we would like to leave our umbrellas behind. Our response was no, we would like to stay as dry as possible. The response from the staff was 'they are just going to bust in the wind'. We responded with we will take our chances. Upon which we received a snarky 'Good luck with that'. Isn't there something about, the customer is always right. The umbrellas withstood the 50 km wind and all the rain by the way.|3. While we were golfing the first day, the fire alarm went off repeatedly with an extremely high pitch piercing sound. When we called reception, they sent Jimmy to fix it. Jimmy was not very helpful, other than taking the batteries out of one of the smoke detectors. Our wives who were at the house when Jimmy arrived felt like Jimmy was very condescending to them. The alarms went off the second day as well. When you pay $2,100 a night for a three bedroom house you expect better. Very glad it didn't go off during the night.|4. We had dinner at the Panorama and the Panorama Bar on the two nights we were there and the food was alright. However, on both occasions we were informed that a number of items on the menu and from the bar were not available. I expect more from a destination that considers itself world class.||We had a number of friends that have been to Cabot tell us 'hope you get good weather'. Well, we did and we didn't. I understand you can't control mother nature. If you decide to go to Cabot, I would suggest that you select a time of year where you have a high degree of probability that the weather is going to be decent. When you look at the historical monthly averages, Inverness gets rain one in every three days in the months of June, July, August and September. ||I know I will never be coming back and will be telling anyone the askes, what my experience was. My suggestion to all would be, that if world class golf, at a world class resort with world class service is your expectation then Cabot is not the...
Read moreA Trip to Paradise! My Cabot Cape Breton Experience Was Pure Magic! 🏆🇨🇦✨ To say my trip to Cabot Cape Breton was the golfing trip of a lifetime is an understatement—it was pure magic! ✨ From the moment my group arrived at this 5-star plus luxury resort in Nova Scotia, we were embraced by the incredible warmth and genuine hospitality of every single person we met. The Canadian welcome is truly second to none! ❤️ The golf was phenomenal! We were absolutely thrilled to play all three of their breathtaking courses. The Nest offered coastal views that took our breath away, the dramatic Cliffs course was carved right from the rugged shoreline, and the Links course—Canada's only true linksland masterpiece—was absolutely unforgettable! 🤩 The Links course was truly exceptional, and the day was a dream come true. Hitting shots on this world-class gem was a major high point, and shooting a 95—a personal best!—was a surreal moment. The joy was infectious! Celebrations included great food, drinks, and laughter that echoed through the clubhouse. An unforgettable moment occurred when General Manager Mark Steenge and Golf Supervisor Keiran Bell joined in the celebration! The shared high-fives and laughter were genuine. Mark presented a special Cabot Coin, beautifully engraved. This coin is now one of the most prized possessions. It will forever be a reminder of this incredible moment of connection and joy! Cabot Resort provided not just a memorable trip, but a truly heartwarming, life-affirming experience. This is a true golfer's paradise and a place where dreams really do come true! ⛳️ The time of a lifetime was had!!! 🙌 Jim "Jimmy" Farrell from New Jersey, USA 🏌️♂️ #CabotCapeBreton #GolfTripOfALifetime #GolfersParadise #PureMagic #NovaScotia #LinksGolf #BestScoreEver #5StarExperience #GolfingGoals #MemoriesForLife #Inverness #BucketList #JimmyFromNJ #GeneralManager #HotelGeneralManager #[YourName]GM (e.g.,...
