After having to drive 6 hours in a rush from Saskatchewan to tend to a family member who was hospitalized in Medicine Hat. We decided to stay at the Hampton to try and relieve some of the stresses of our trip. We had gotten in late the first night (Thurs, 26th) and immediately went to bed. First impression was a beautiful hotel, room seemed on average, however for the price $230/night left much to be desired.
Upon waking up the next morning and going to have a shower I noticed the walls in the bathroom were severely water damaged, and an alarming amount of pink mold/scum around the tub, shower, and toilet bases. A very strong musty/mold smell was airborne as well. Again, for the caliber of hotel and price of room, this is something I'd expect at a Motel. Regardless, I go to speak the next morning after my shower with the front desk. The manager, had said they'd leave a note to clean it up and at best give me a discounted rate if I stay again.
Later that evening after spending all day at the hospital with a dying family member we get back to our room still not clean, I had made the front desk aware of this and nothing was done. We were not even offered to move rooms, etc.
The following morning I was made aware we had to extend our visit by one day to tend to our family member. We were then given a 45% reduction which was about $123 for the same filthy room that had yet to be cleaned for one additional night.
Regardless, we could have changed hotels, however I myself am disabled and this hotel was near the hospital so we had decided not to pack up our belongings so long as they would come and clean our room.
This AM (Sunday, Sept 29th) as of 9am our room was still not cleaned. Management still did not care to tend to their customers needs, and would rather see people's health jeopardized by pink mold, and various other germs in a filthy bathroom. Perhaps this is a one-off incident, however being the caliber of hotel that this is, I am extremely disappointed especially after spending nearly $700 here for my 3 nights stay.
I would recommend going elsewhere, with much better quality control for half the price! I must say however, the breakfast was fairly decent, and parking was good as well. It was truly a shame this hotel has a lack of quality within the industry for how prestigious they are supposed to be.
Take care
(Photos depict only a portion of the issue, I had taken a full 30s video of the bathroom and it's issues which then were shown to management...
Read morerooms were great, we have just came home after spending the weekend at this place. we were very excited to stay here BUT I do have some issues and concerns. the hockey teams were here with so many kids. and that’s fine, but the lack of respect towards other paying customers really showed this weekend! we paid to stay and to use the amenities here, this is why we chose this place. the pool and hot tub was always PACKED with screaming children until the pools closing time.. 10pm it’s not right or fair, that children can over run the hallways screaming and being chaotic all day and night like this. The noise was next level.
There was zero boundaries or care for the other customers. we didn’t really have a chance to be in the pool and hot tub.. there could have AT LEAST been a time limit so us adults/other customers could have some relaxation time. why not make it an hour even before the pool closes, that others can go in without children, chaos and zero space?
Why are we paying you guys for these things that we cannot use?.. the hot tub was quite green and overall dirty looking after so many kids and people in it. when I brought up these concerns, all the front desk told me was “oh I’m so sorry” To me that’s not okay, just no care at all for how others felt here. we shouldn't have had to pay the prices we did this weekend with how ridiculous it was.. personally, I will not be coming back here. I’d prefer to go somewhere more inclusive for everybody and more peaceful. I understand kids will be kids, but this is a place with others too that should be treated with equal respect...
Read moreStayed at this location for one night while on business in MH. One night was enough. I can see how a sports team, kids, and those who don't travel 6 months out of the year would enjoy this hotel. But once you receive a certain level of service at another location (from the same brand), you expect it everywhere. Unfortunately, that level of service doesn't exist here and there's no consistency. I've mentioned it before, if Hilton were to pay attention to their Hampton brand, there might just be a level of consistency with products/service that would exist across all locations. Independently owned or not.
No welcome bottle of water (with my corporate logo on it) or a small gift 20 cent shower head which barely dispenses water - I'm glad I don't have long hair Online check-in/pick your room/grab your key card and go never worked. What's the point of paying extra and being a Hilton rewards member if basic services don't work?
Just an FYI, checked in to the Saskatoon Hampton Inn, complimentary bottle of water at check-in. Plus, there was NO attitude at check-out when I asked why there was no printed copy of my bill under my door in the am. Apparently that's a service only for top tier Hilton members. Not only was the response demeaning, it wasn't true. Perhaps additional training for front desk staff (Shelby).
Measure yourself against the Hampton Inn in Sydney N.S., Saskatoon etc... Start there and you'll see what meeting (and exceeding) ones expectations...
