Final update. Day 33. Received the refund. Will never rent from the company again. Communication is terrible. Zero accountability or attempt to resolve the issue. House is much smaller than the pictures show, slight cigarette smell in main level and musty smell downstairs. Lake is shallow and mucky and the dock is tiny. Was not my favorite rental based on the house, but the lack of communication, accountability and responsiveness sealed the deal for the 0 star review.

Update again. Day 32. Still no refund. No further communication since the blame on the credit card company.

Update to this review. It has now been 31 days. Still no refund. The company is blaming their credit card processing company but not doing anything to reach out to that company to correct this issues. Still 0 star review.

We stayed at this location from July 26-Aug 2. It is now Aug. 27 and I have not received my security deposit refund. It was supposed to be returned in 4-7 days and it has now been 25 days. The communication is terrible. No one responds to emails, no one returns phone calls. The only way I've been able to get a response is on Airbnb, but we didn't book through Airbnb, so I have no recourse for my deposit.

Stayed at Familia during the weekend of August 15, 2025. The pictures for this cottage are very deceiving. Clearly the pictures were taken a decade ago when the cottage was under different management. The floors are worn down and dangerous to walk on as the wood is old, warped and splintering. The kitchen is not luxury, very much the opposite. The stove was missing a knob, the dishwasher was falling out of the counter and the appliances were not at all A tier. The amenities left a lot to be desired. The pool table was old and dirty; there were no kayaks despite being mentioned as available; the basement was locked preventing use of the washing machine; the BBQ was filthy and broken; and the hot tub was in desperate need of repair as it did not work and the cover was badly warped. The walls throughout the cottage were marked with gouges and other chips in the paint or dry wall. And to top it all off, the front door knob came right off on our last day. I have reached out to the management multiple times over the last few days and have gotten zero response about any of these issues. In addition, an $800 deposit was taken off my credit card and still has not been returned, despite my group leaving the place in better condition than we found it. Here is our review of our stay. First off, definitely not a 5-star stay. I would say more like 3-star. We loved the decorations in the room. We would have preferred 100% clean sheets. We would have liked a sink to be able to wash the dishes. We were just wondering what we were supposed to do with our dirty dishes. The room lacked serious dusting, I saw cobwebs. We would have liked to have a dryer and washer too, for some of the wet towels, etc. We were very happy with the kayaks and the proximity to the lake. Our bedroom view was also very beautiful. I was not happy about the noise past 10pm, but your Administration took care to inform our neighbours of said-noise on our first night, so thank you again for that. We also thought that the hot tub should've been better cleaned. There was a greasy film on it. However, the temperature was great . Et voici le tout en français: Voici notre avis sur notre séjour. Tout d'abord, ce n'est certainement pas un séjour 5 étoiles. Je dirais plutôt 3 étoiles. Nous avons adoré la décoration de la chambre. Nous aurions préféré des draps 100 % propres. Nous aurions aimé avoir un évier pour pouvoir faire la vaisselle. Nous nous demandions ce que nous étions censés faire de notre vaisselle sale. La chambre manquait sérieusement de dépoussiérage, j'ai vu des toiles d'araignée. Nous aurions également aimé disposer d'un sèche-linge et d'un lave-linge pour certaines serviettes mouillées, etc. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié les kayaks et la proximité du lac. La vue depuis notre chambre était également très belle.
