To be clear, this experience had absolutely be nothing to do with the hotel, only the liquor store. A group of lifelong friends and I were traveling through town on Friday April 12th around 3:00 pm and stopped in for a bottle of gin. The moment I walked in a blonde girl at the counter looked at me unhappily and said she needed to see some ID. As she was helping a customer already, I asked if she needed to see if right now or when we pay. She was instantly angry, like what I had asked was a stupid question (note: we are tourists not from Canada, and did not know if that was a custom) Then after I gave her my ID, and said that in order for us to be in there, she would need us each to give her a second piece of ID. I assume this is common in Canada, and ask if a passport would work. Seeming annoyed, she then said no, she needed something that said our full name and proved we were who we said we were, like a debit card. Confused, I didn't say anything more and just gave her my debit card. After staring at it for about 15 seconds, she holds it out and does not say anything to me. I take my cards back and begin to look around the small but very nice liquor shop. She then raised her voice, and said she had the right to not serve me, since I was being rude and that I had snatched my cards back and that was extremely rude. She then went on for about 30 seconds at how rude I was. (I have worked in customer service and the food industry my entire life and have always prided myself treating all workers in the industry with respect, as I know how tough the work can be) I was dumbfounded as to why I was being told any of this, and ended up walking out of the store. I am sure that she was just having a bad day, but it really made the first leg of our trip a bad experience. I'm sure the restaurant and hotel are amazing and we would probably have stayed there, but I don't think I would ever go into that liquor...
Read moreI am a local of this area and finally started to branch out after my anxiety started to subside… This place is AMAZING! You’d never know this was small town food.
I come by around once every 1 or 2 weeks now, ordering the same thing (sometimes I’ll branch out and be adventurous😜) My top pick will always be the chicken Caesar salad wrap with their fries! Mmmm, so so so yummy! It’s still just as good even when it’s leftovers, just warm it up!
Great mildly spicy sauce in the wrap, grilled (or fried, not sure) chicken, cooked soft and gentle lettuce, bacon and cheese! As someone that has unfortunate and inevitable bowel issues, I’ve never had a problem with the food here. My go to drink is always their Shirley temple, which has the right amount of grenadine and orange juice! (Or whatever is in them…)
Their presentation is great, too. Don’t just slap a bunch of fries on a plate and say “here you go”. They have a whole holder for them, too (I know, my standards are low this is a judgement free zone!)
They do take out for food AND drinks. Very kid friendly, big booths and a nice open bar, picnic tables in a slightly closed off area with a few trees and a nice lawn like you could have a picnic on. Recommend for travellers...
Read moreWe stayed at the lodge with my family for my grandmother's memorial. Upon our arrival we met Lani at the front desk, who was friendly and professional with such a personal touch. She made sure the amenities we brought from Seattle for our group stay were placed in the rooms before guest arrival. We had dinner on the patio and Brant, the bartender, was wonderful! His service was comparable to any high end restaurant we have been to (and we are managers in the service industry in Seattle). The food was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised at the high quality. Thank you Chef! The next day we had family coming in at the same time and we decided to have an impromptu dinner of 16. They pulled it together no problem. I can't remember our server's name (pink hair). She handled the large group with ease. The rooms were extremely clean with very comfortable beds. We had some issues with a cancellation and room adjustment which they accommodated with grace. Skye, the restaurant manager, helped us with the details for our memorial and it was amazing! She made a point to email a thank you the next day. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. They made a stressful moment in our lives relaxing and enjoyable. We will...
