Best Western Inn at Penticton — Hotel in Penticton

This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had. Kris the hotel reception was incredibly rude and does not have an ounce of hospitality and should not be working as your front desk agent. The manager Kelly also had a horrible reaction to our unfortunate situation. They should not be employed in hospitality. If it wasn’t for the fact that this was a tribute trip for my late mom I would have never continued with this reservation.

Kris was incredibly rude on the initial phone call, not willing to help, and then passed me over to his colleague to book me in.

The booking agent booked me at a rate of $1314.40 per night including all taxes. When I got to the counter on July 25, Kris was there and was extremely unfriendly, so rude to the point I was in tears in front of him and that is only when he changed his tune. He charged me $1325 and change and told me to take up the $9 difference. Kris was also condescending about the $9 difference “you mean the $9”, it was $9 on each room and this was after online it quoted me almost $200 dollars less which they would not match and the online booking platform was not working to book.

We went to speak to the manager the next day Kelly. Kelly already had a narrative in her head about our reservation and comes out to greet us by saying “oh is this the reservation about the $9”, saying it in a rude and condescending way, similar to how Kris expressed his opinion.

Kelly took his side immediately and then eventually started to understand our side and said she would handle Kris’ approach with him.

This wasn’t the only trouble we had at this location. We asked for two blankets as we had to use both beds and the AC was fairly cold, Kris gave us one only and said “yeah they don’t trust us here at best western I guess” in reference to providing us another blanket.

Not only did we not get two blankets and one of our sleeping areas was incredibly cold when sleeping on the pull out, I proceeded to ask the house keeping lady for a blanket and they did not bring an additional one up either. I asked twice the housekeeping department and Kris was asked once and not not provided the additional blanket that was asked for.

This experience was traumatizing. This was a location we visited when we were younger with my mother who recently passed and we wanted to do a tribute trip to her.

Kelly even went so far to quaetipn who my mother was as If we were lying about the reason we were coming.

Kelly said “what was your mothers name, I’ve been here for 30 years..” in a questioning accusatory way when addressing the unfortunate situation when dealing with Kris and the money owed back to us.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Do not stay here. Way better customer service in Penticton. I was left traumatized and did not even want to have any contact with the hotel.

We were there for four days. It was a busy time for the hotel because there were events going on in town. One day housekeeping missed our room entirely. There are no private balconies, just one long balcony per building. We were on the second floor so at the end of a long balcony. it is a non-smoking hotel, but people were smoking on the balcony and some of the smoke was getting into our room. There was no smoking allowed on the balconies, but either management and staff didn't notice the smokers, which is hard to believe, or they just didn't bother enforcing the rules. I did see the groundskeeper telling some young people that they couldn't have there beer in glass bottles in the pool, but he just gave them a heads up. This behavior may not be normal at this motel, it may have just being these particular guests and this is the only time that I have stayed this location. The room itself was average. The bed was comfortable, and we had no problems with noise. This is a family-oriented motel with a large outdoor area framed by the motel buildings, it hoses the outdoor pool and some playground equipment, as well as barbecues, picnic tables, and a few tables and chairs, as well as two magnificent weeping willow trees. The grounds are very well kept and the pool was clean. There is also an indoor pool and jacuzzi. The breakfast was typical Best Western in terms of offerings, but the eggs and meat were well prepared and there was yogurt, fruit, waffles Etc as usual for a Best Western. my wife said that the woman at the front desk was not particularly friendly, however my interactions with housekeeping and maintenance staff we're quite friendly.the property is very attractive though there is construction going on next door of some condos or something so that can create a noise problem through the week. my suggestion would be to ask to be put in a wing that is not next to the construction area. • UPDATE Hotel's manager emailed me, & without any apologies, went in on me about my bad review about the food. NOT ever a mention about my negative experience, only worried about the review I gave on their breakfast. WOW! If they had at least apologized, I would have let it go, but it is now being escalated, If you as a leader, can't even take accountability for the behavior of your staff or conditions of the hotel you run, you should not have your job!! **

Absolutely atrocious customer service. They lie to your face & don't take accountability for their pour behavior & or actions. Hotel is absolutely un-kept. Don't stay here if u value your $. They stole from me, more than just $. Booked room for 21st with "Sarah" She billed my cc as a no-show for the 19th. Really? Sarah laughed at me over the phone when I called to straighten this out. Rebooked for the 21st showed up & they had cancelled my reservation without explanation. Charged twice as much. crack heads outside my door all hrs of the night banging on it. There are 3 doors to enter room. Front, back & adjoining to another room. I felt completely unsafe all night. Barely slept 3 hrs. Strange ppl calling room. Terrible breakfast in the morning. Room unclean, snot on walls. Outlets didn't work (lamps unable to turn on due to outlet not working) Stunk like really bad cigarette smoke in room, it's just gross & yes these concerns were addressed with 3 different front desk employees, all which didn't care.
