One star because of their deceptive and dishonest business practice. I made a reservation in early JUNE for August. I made my reservation under a contract through RPI that requires the park to provide water and electric service MINIMUM at a reduced fee. In addition to paying the RPI required fee, this park wanted another $8.95 "resort fee" which is fine if they have amenities. But on top of that they want a $5 per pet fee if I have a dog. We have a small pomeranian that weighs maybe 7 pounds, is rarely outside and usually uses a pee mat inside our RV. That was still manageable as we were getting a discount. I know their pet fee was just one more way to increase fees to RPI members.
However, this morning one hour before I was to check out of the RV park I was in, one of their staff called to tell me that my reservation that I've had since the first of June was now going to be a boondocking only site. I would have to provide my own electric, water and dump somewhere else. I asked if that meant they were going to charge me less. NOPE. They still wanted $18.95 + $5 per night. So $23.95 for me to run my own generator, bring in my own water and dump later.
I asked why I was just now being notified as my reservation is in TWO DAYS and I'm heading there now and will need water and at least a dump when we get there. The person who called me didn't know anything except she was told to call me and tell me that NOW you are boondocking and ALL RPI people will be boondocking because we are now full.
The manger finally called me back. He was difficult to understand. I asked him repeatedly their policies. Here's what I was told.
Sites are not assigned when a reservation is made. You aren't here yet, but you will be assigned a boondocking only site.
I asked if sites aren't assigned until people arrive then why am I already being told I will be boondocking only? When did the park fill up? Was it full in June when I made my reservation or did more people reserve after me? Seems like first reservations should be honored first. He kept changing his story. I then asked what was required of him as it was my understanding with RPI that I was to have water and electric for $10 a night. He said no. His contract states he only has to provide me with WATER. I asked..Ok then why are you telling me that I am going to get boondocking only and no water? Isn't that against your contract? He said..."we have water" We can get you water. Somewhere in the park is water. Well is that water are my SITE? Or will I have to drive somewhere to get water? He couldn't answer. He kept waffling.
I called RPI after I got to a safe place to pull over. By this time, I'm already late checking out of the park I was in trying to find out what to do and where else I could get a reservation at the last minute. RPI said that the manager of this part has just started doing this in the last few days telling the RPI customers that they can only have a boondocking site. They will be looking into it.
The thing is. According to the cancellation policies OF THIS PARK I am required to cancel SEVEN DAYS before my reservation date or they will charge me the FULL COST OF MY RESERVATION. So it seems this park manager is telling all RPI customers they will get boondocking only, charging us the fees for water and electric, plus extra fees then either hoping we don't show up and he can keep all the money or he's getting paid for not providing the services as contracted.
We haven't even seen this park yet, but I can assure you that all 900+ of my friends, many of which are fulltime RVers and everyone I know through RVillage will know of the DECEPTIVE PRACTICES OF THIS PARK AND THE MANAGER WHO IS AN...
Read moreThe RidgeView Resort is our 111th stop for us and we stayed 2 nights. Overall, would rate it a 4.3. The office staff at check in were super nice and efficient. You have great mature trees throughout the park which give a lot of shade in the afternoon sun. The views from the ridge (minus the lumber mill) were awesome, especially at sunset. The bathrooms and laundry rooms were very clean. If you are coming here with a family, there are many things to do with a including a large and fenced in playground area, miniature golf, volley ball and other amenities. And the recreation center is updated and large and has indoor pool/hot tub as well as a racquetball court. The wide paved roads are nice and appreciate the dog owners having dogs on leashes as we did not experience any issues. There is no dog park but the outside road loop is a nice half mile walk – they do charge a pet fee. A couple of challenges. When coming in, you had to pull up to a very narrow gate house area where you have to exit the motor home to use the intercom. The problem is there was little clearance to open the door and the stair nearly rested on the curb. And for set up, I appreciate the patio area; however, with a slide out on the passenger slide plus the door, had to maneuver the coach to be on the backside of the pad and far away from the utilities to open them. Was reassigned to another spot when checking in. As a couple with no children, why put is on the main road right across from the playground? And speaking of the road, 20 km/hr is high as that means 30+ for most drivers – a lot of speeding, especially near the playground. And if you are a resort, invest a bit more on WiFi like most campgrounds have. Lastly, if you have problems following rules (which we are not), you will sign a rules contract with very specific fines noted. Overall, we really enjoyed our short stay here. Connectivity: Park WiFi 3.34 down/0.26 up; Verizon 192.0 down/7.06 up; T-Mobile 11.5...
