Rimouski is a beautiful small city located in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada. Having visited Rimouski, I would like to share my review on the city's attractions, culture, and overall experience.
Rimouski is situated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, which offers stunning views and a peaceful ambiance. The city has a variety of attractions that cater to different interests. The Rimouski Regional Museum, for instance, is a great place to learn about the history and culture of the region. The museum also features an impressive collection of marine specimens, including a whale skeleton.
Another notable attraction is the Bic National Park, which is located nearby. The park boasts stunning landscapes, with rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and dense forests. Visitors can enjoy hiking, camping, and wildlife watching in the park.
The city also has a rich cultural scene, with several festivals and events held throughout the year. The Festival Country de Rimouski, for example, celebrates the country music and culture of the region, while the Festival de musique actuelle de Victoriaville brings together musicians and artists from around the world for a unique and innovative musical experience.
In terms of cuisine, Rimouski has a variety of restaurants and cafes that offer delicious local specialties, such as seafood and cheese. The city also has a thriving craft beer scene, with several microbreweries and taprooms that offer a range of unique and flavorful beers.
Overall, Rimouski is a charming and welcoming city that offers a variety of attractions, activities, and experiences. It is a perfect destination for nature lovers, history buffs, and culture enthusiasts, and it is well worth a visit. The people are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the scenery is breathtaking. I highly recommend Rimouski as a must-visit destination in...
Read moreHotel Rimouski by far was a disappointment. Stayed on 2/20 for single night after traversing the Gaspesie by snow machine as H.R. purchased an ad with the Québec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (FCMQ)
Limited electrical outlets for todays electronics.
Awesome view of the St Lawrence as the rive is only across the street.
Fortunately the rooms are fitted with hard floors, no carpet.
Staff was attentive & pleasurable.
The buffet breakfast was limited in comparison to other buffets we encountered during our travels.
Water pressure or lack thereof to include a lack of hot water during our arrival in room 5002 was a concern we voiced to front desk personnel. Personnel acknowledged the shower faucet was difficult to maneuver & offered to send an assistant. We declined as we had made a number of attempts, all to no avail. The shower faucet albeit was awkward it was not the reason. Upon departure the following morning the water temperature was sufficient but the pressure remained poor.
Those accessing the hotel by snow machine after leaving the local trail will have to travel a lengthy distance through the city where you will encounter poor directional signage , vehicular traffic & traffic lights all leading to high engine temperatures & risk of damage to sliders & carbides. Further the hotel does not offer a secure place to park the sleds. We were required to park the sleds out front. On a plus note, those trailering to the hotel will be afforded plenty of parking, allowing for the parking of trailers big & small.
I am of the opinion there has to be a better...
Read moreOne of the best hotels in Rimouski when you're passing through on vacation with the kids. It has an indoor swimming pool with a water slide that the kids absolutely adore, so bring swim suits. We stayed there with our 7 year old daughter and 11 year old son for one night on our way back from our Gaspésie family vacation roadtrip, and we really enjoyed our experience. Our suite (room # 3032) was overlooking the water, and it was relatively modern and convenient for the price. The master bedroom was separated from the living room which had a pullout sofa (where the kids slept) by opaque sliding doors, so it offered some intimacy but not full privacy. The bathroom was large and modern but the shower fixture could have been nicer. The room had a fridge, a Keurig coffee machine, and plenty of plugs for chargers (the master bedroom had an alarm clock with an iphone lightning plug charging stand built in). When we arrived in the room there was a free bottle on Montpellier sparkling water and some chocolates for the kids, which was nice after a few hours driving. The location is also ideal, since it's close to restaurants, and just across the street is the waterfront promenade with covered "pier"-like structure where you can take the kids to watch the birds fishing during low tide, or just to watch the sunset. I'd stay there again if I ever go back...
