There is MANY people who did not do their job correctly and for that I won't ever give another penny to the quality inn or any of the "choice hotels " . NO REASON and there is NO EXCUSE for what happened . I regretfully booked a room at the Quality Inn in rivere du loup, in Quebec then was redirected to the "comfort inn" what a comforting experience. NOT First of all I was trying to book the room myself , that's what I've been doing and haven't had ANY problems. But unfortunately I was unable to do that and I had to call in to "redeem" my "free night". First off, the call was dropped twice making me have to call back for a third time to book the room. Finally when I was able to talk to someone I asked to use my points and book a room at the quality inn . I informed Lucile I needed a pet friendly room and prefer a king size bed. She booked the room for me. I wanted to verify that the reservation went through ok so I called the hotel and confirmed it was and she said it was booked and there was a note that 2 dogs were coming. I said perfect and hung up. I was on the way to Quebec and was looking through my emails and noticed I had a email conformation for my room and I opened it up and noticed it said no pets allowed. So I immediately called the hotel, I spoke to marina and told her that I received the email and it says no pets , I need one that allows dogs. She said that there is a note that you're bringing two dogs so not to worry . I said really? That's weird the email conformation says no pets. She said not to worry. I said thanks , and hung up. We spoke at 3:26 pm. I arrived at my destination at 8 pm. I walked in and was asked my last name , Pierre grabbed my reservation card and said to initial in a few spots ; it was all in French but I heard him say no smoking and no pets. I informed him I needed a room that allows dogs. He said the hotel isn't pet friendly, I said you've got to be kidding me!!!! I called three times to book/verify and verify again. He was rude and told me it's not pet friendly and I'm not allowed to stay there. So I said now what???? It's late, dark and both of our phones are dead. He said go to the comfort inn across the street. No address was given , no directions I was pissed right off. We arrived at the comfort inn we told the guy at the front desk (Raphael) what happened at the prior hotel and asked if he had the room available/ if he spoke to anyone. He said he didn't speak to anyone but he has a room for over a hundred bucks. I told him I wanted to use my points he said I had to call into the reservation number to cancel the quality inn and to rebook with the comfort inn/ I could do this tomorrow. I was on the phone first with Edward , he cancelled the room , kept me on the phone for about 25 mins and then guess what he told me ? You want to stay here you have to pay for it, this hotel requires 10000 points. After all that ??????????? Unbelievable. Loss of words so I said i want to speak to a manger immediately. I talked to Brian he said the same thing and he also said he is the manger/ owner of the entire centre and I'm unable to talk to anyone else. I either pay or I don't stay there. So I picked up my stuff and went to a hotel that was 160 bucks for the night. I don't care about paying for a room, I haven't ever got one for free but I would of never ever ever gave any of those hotels a cent after what they did. I want to speak to the highest manger possible and inform them of what happened and how mad I really am. I referred 4 of my best friends who stay in hotels VERY often and I can assure you I will tell everyone of them what happened and I take back my referral. I will never ever ever stay in a choice hotel again. I'm disappointed, mad, disgusted how so many people did so little to care about me , my dogs and my boyfriend after a 15 hour drive. I don't care if you buy one night and get 100 for free I will never ever ever ever waste another second of my time, energy or patience dealing with so many people , employees representing a company with such disrespect...

Read moreWe have stayed at Comfort Inn many times in the past and have found them, for the most part, reliable for cleanliness, comfort, and convenient locations. The Riviere-du-Loup shocked us with its complacency regarding maintenance. My wife and I tried to shower in the morning, but we found the drain was plugged and very slow. When my wife finished her shower, I had no choice but to step into an ankle-deep pool of water for my shower. The water drained from the tub in 10-15 minutes when I was finished. On our way to breakfast, I advised the concierge, Frederic, about this situation. He said it was a known issue, which further shocked me. Why would any guest be given a room with a known issue like this? This not only speaks to the rooms' cleanliness but also to the guests' safety, which is being ignored. The parking lot was not full, so the place was not overcrowded. The final shock was that we had reserved the room more than a month in advance, with our stay costing $300 for one night. We expected more, much more for our money. Although we continue to trust the reputation of the Choice chain of hotels, this incident makes us not want to return to...
