Where do I start? We had booked a room here a couple of months ago to stay 2 nights. Upon booking Carmen told us there were absolutely no bed bugs at the Hotel. So on our way I called after crossing the Canso causway to request an early check in. She said she would call back to let us know if this was possible because she would have to check with the cleaning staff. Well come to find out Her and another man were the whole staff so this is where the bullsh#t started. We arrived at the Hotel and upon check in I asked if I could leave a credit card and pay upon check out. She said no you have to pay now so I did. Very stupid on my part. After this she brings us to our room and she opens a steel door to our room. This is when we found out we had to share a bathroom with the whole 2nd floor. In the meantime I was out getting our luggage. After I went back upstairs I found my girlfriend in tears. Carmen was rude and yelled at her because my girlfriend simply said I don't think these facilities are going to work for us. Anyway I grabbed our bags and went back down to the car then went back into the hotel to get my money back. Was willing to let her keep the 75 dollar deposit that we paid during booking. We'll she said should would not refund me and this is when I had to call the police. When they arrived and came and spoke with me they said this isn't the first time they have been there for this reason. They went and spoke with her and she ended up agreeing to give me 112 dollars back of the 212 I paid at check in plus she kept the 75 dollar deposit. Anyway even when the police were there she called me names and acted like a child. She acted very unstable. Anyway long story short. She is a scammer so be aware and she is not a business woman by any means. The place should be called the Royal BnB not Hotel. I wasn't there long enough to have any bed bug experience but the latest reviews don't...
Read moreWe showed up for check in after 7pm. It definitely felt like they forgot about us and they seemed confused when we showed up despite having a reservation. ||After paying we were escorted to the room we would be staying in. Through a curtain, past a dining area and into a front bedroom slightly larger than the bed itself. The bathroom was back across the dining area. ||We sometimes opt to stay in a hostel, and in those instances a shared bathroom can be expected. This was a surprise. ||There wasn’t a lock on our bedroom door, but there was a hook lock on a secondary door that we could secure once inside. ||We could then leave through a separate entrance. A weird set up for sure and one that left us hoping there would be no accidental intruders if one of us went to the washroom in the night and unhooked the door. ||The bed was comfortable, but if you like a dark room, the bright porch light and street lights shining through the sheer curtains may be a problem. I woke up many times in the night feeling blinded. Sleeping past 6:30 was also out of the question because of the daylight.||Everyone seemed nice, the lobby was pretty with all the plants and the bed was comfortable. On the 2nd day we had soap in the bathroom too so that was a bonus. ||Over all it reminded me of staying in the house of a granny who is too old to keep it maintained (holes in the walls and in our door). ||We won’t be back but we have a good story now and will probably ask to see the room before payment in the future. ||(We are pretty casual humans too… good with camping, cabins, hostels etc but when we pay for a hotel we expect...
Read moreI’ve been travelling around Canada for 3 months and this was definitely the worst stay. Every hostel I stayed at was so much better than this hotel and it’s half the price. I can’t say anything good about this hotel unfortunately. The window in my room was broken, I couldn’t open it at all. The bed was a little itchy and the breakfast was some muffins packed in cling film from the supermarket. The whole hotel smelled somehow strange, I don’t really know, where it came from. But that wasn’t the worst. The owner was acting overly friendly during my stay, which I already thought was very strange. When I left the hotel, I left behind my raincoat unfortunately. The owner told me, she found it and will leave it in a bag with my name on it. It was a pretty expensive one, that’s why I was very glad she found it. I paid some extra money to get to Sydney again. As soon as I arrived there, she was very unfriendly and impolite towards me and told me, my friend already took it. I was to confused at the time so just went back. I wrote her an email later, telling her that I am a solo traveler from Germany so I don’t know anyone in Canada. Each time, she told me something else, when she wrote me back. First, it was my friend, who took it. Then it was a stranger who mistook it for her raincoat, which shouldn’t be possible cause she wrote my name on the back. Then it was the friend of the other girl who took it. If I were you, I wouldn’t trust this hotel to much. It can always happen that you leave something worthy behind by mistake and this person probably won’t give it...
