Date of visit: May 1 – 4, 2025 We were looking for a quick getaway and decided to spend time exploring the area around the Welland Canal. We discovered this hotel is not only along the welland Canal, but also every room faces the Lock 7. You can sit on your balcony and watch the ships go up and down the canal, as they rise and fall in the lock. The motel is very well appointed. It is not glamorous or fancy, but it is spotless and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and clean. There are no odours or problems with the room. The beds – at first we were worried the bounciness of the beds would lead to an inadequate night’s sleep – but instead they were very comfortable and soft. The room cleaner was very nice and friendly – we had great conversations. Guest check-in was simple -and a little old-school charming. Registration cards, sign-in guest book, and big room key chains. The hotel is located overlooking the canal, and is conveniently located to the Welland canal Bike / walking trails. This makes it a very popular and great location for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathroom was spotless and free of issues. Towels are a tiny bit small, but they are happy to give you more. There is a coffee maker, and a fridge in the room. Overall, this was a lovely place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely scenic stay.

Stayed three nights in August 2025. We've stayed here before, specifically for the view of the Welland Canal's Lock Seven, but that was sixteen years ago and the place has changed hands since. The rooms in the hotel all face the canal and have balconies, except the first floor where there's a patio area. The bulk of the building dates from 1965 and has a dated look, both inside and out, BUT, that's all part of the appeal. It's basic, for sure, but it is scrupulously clean and really has everything you can want; tea and coffee making equipment, large flat-screen TV, fridge, and air-conditioning. The owners have worked hard to improve the rooms, and the free WiFi was fast and strong, which was much appreciated. The view is, of course, what so many people come for and it didn't disappoint again, with a 24/7 parade of freighters and ships in and out of the lock. The owner was very helpful and friendly, and played along with our five-year-old grandson when he wanted to see the reception desk. We also spoke with the woman doing the housekeeping, and she too was really friendly and helpful. The room rate was very competitive, especially given the hotel's proximity to Niagara Falls. It was certainly very good value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel, and we will be going back at some point.

Simple comfort and delightful if you're looking for relaxing moments and not full-blown luxury. Three levels of rooms with a secure entrance on the ground floor. You'll find a refrigerator at the entrance area but no microwave. Large area to hang items with storage ledge. Table for 2 with chairs you can eat on or games. A small bathroom with limited room for your toiletries . The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and extra blankets if needed. In room coffee pot with real ceramic mugs! Tv was nice with good cable selection. The view was spectacular! We went to view boats and were not disappointed! It's in anice-looking neighborhood walking distance to the old downtown area. No breakfast or ice service. We were there on a cooler day and a couple of warmer days. The warmer days were hardest as the air conditioner did not cool the room efficiently. Had we brought a fan, it might have helped. Maybe they needed to clean the ac vents too? I would definitely stay here again!

We just stayed for three nights at this hotel. Awesome location! My family and I LOVED the proximity to the canal and seeing all the ships go through. It is a one-of-a-kind place! We really enjoyed the individual balconies on our adjoining rooms and made a lot of use of them for canal watching. That said, this property needs some serious upgrades especially in the bathrooms. They are in very outdated and in rough shape, albeit relatively clean. Tubs are especially damaged and look dirtier than they actually are. WiFi barely works and needs to be improved. Housekeeping missed a number of things during our stay. We found pillows on the floor, for example. The surroundings had a strange earthy/organic smell like manure that was very strong. We could not figure out where the odor was coming from—perhaps not on the property at all but still noxious. The beds were fine and clean. No complaints there. There was a breakfast room with many interesting pictures depicting canal vessels and the inn’s history but was not operable due to construction. There was no breakfast offered to guests during my stay. This property has so much potential. The benefit to it being still rather rudimentary is that it is very affordable for families on a budget. All in all I would stay again because the experience is unique and overrides any...
