I stayed here June 6th and checked in around 11 pm. I noticed that the only lock was the lock that is activated by the key card. I locked the door and went to bed. At about 12:30 at night I heard someone opening my door, and to my surprise, it opened and someone came in. I said "Hello?!?" and they said "front desk, sorry!" and left. It was extremely unnerving. The next morning, I told the person on shift at the front desk what had happened and all I got was "I'm sorry that happened"; no promise to find out why someone had been in my room, no assurances that they would add locks, no compensation. In my view, as a single female traveller, this is a serious safety concern that should have been addressed with more empathy and concern. I suggest that anyone who wants privacy and security NOT stay at this hotel since it's clearly not a concern of the staff. ZERO STARS for security and customer service.

Good Inn with friendly staff and was clean. They have free breakfast and a lounge area as well. The room was clean with good Wi-Fi. The bathroom was clean but very dated and the concrete walls give it an old prison-like feel. The food was good both at breakfast with many items, and in the lounge for dinner. There is no Iron/Press or Ironing board in the room but the hotel may have one you can borrow. This Inn is more geared towards service or oil/gas workers.

On a long motorcycle trip arrived to that inn in cold rainy night. Did not need much but shelter. The receptionist girls were very nice, and offered to park my bike in front of inn for safety reasons. Room was very clean and had more appliances than I need. Also the location is right. Restaurants and fast food just in minutes of walk or ride.

I am a small town guy. So using the excuse "It's a small town" does not fly with me. I don't know where to start so at the beginning should suffice. We got into the dining area as a group of 4, when we got there there was only a couple tables with people. We requested to sit at the window while the waiter was attempting to sit us smack dab in the middle of the restaurant. He made a fuss about it and acted like the request was inconceivable. He went ahead telling us that they had a system where they take groups/guests and place them in different servers assigned areas to even the "tip flow". Odd. Weird. And i don't try to tell people how to do their job, but this guy clearly did not know how to problem solve. Once the dining room filled. Which it did. It is mothers day afterall. The poor Chef came out and told us the buffet would be served in the hallway. Everyone in the dining room then got up and went to the front of the hotel and down the hall to grab their plates and in a single file shuffle fill it up. The breakfast was "trying" very hard to be fancy. It missed the boat in almost every dish. If i had to say what was my favorite I would say the bacon, but even that was cold! I even waited for a "fresh" batch of eggs Benedict to come out and by the time i got to my table they were cold. I feel bad for the chef because he seemed to care and try, it's just the waiting staff and chefs help really made the experience a bad one. And you Don't go up mid meal to ask a gentleman in his late 40's if he is a senior and going to be asking for the discount on the meal! Irrelevant at the time and completely rude. Looking back we should have all tried to claim the discount because the meal was way over priced for what it was. I will never return for food here again....

Sadly this is our last stay at the old Sawridge/ Slave Lake Inn.

Emailed in to book and didn't get a reply after 3 days so I called in and booked the pet friendly room. Friendly staff at checkin. I asked what time the breakfast was (there is nothing online the website is really out of date and useless) I was told breakfast was 5am to 10pm. Went for breakfast at 9.40am and was told it was over and we needed to wakeup earlier. Having the breakfast hours on the website or posted somewhere might be nice.

The room had a small carpet next to the bed. It smelled of urine. The freezer didn't freeze and just leaked all over the contents of the fridge. The hairdryer in the room barely worked and even though its a wall mount it was stuffed under the sink. The shower curtain was tattered.

They have dog poop bags outside for dogs but only one garbage in front of the lobby so its a walk to throw away dog poop if your staying in one of the wings. Easier to walk across to mcdonalds for a garbage can.

The lounge is open late for food but the food we had was mediocre. The 27$ chicken fettucini alfredo tasted like a microwave meal.

We've been coming here for 23 years and its really gone down hill each time. This is our last stay at a hotel that has had so many memories for our family.

2 stars as the staff were very friendly with the exception of the restaurant hostess....

Ok...we were driving across the country from Nova Scotia to help our daughter get settled in her first job, post degree. We stopped here for the night and were exhausted. The walk to the room seemed endless as we were placed in the far end of the hotel. We just got to sleep and the fire alarm sounded! I called the front desk, as we did not get a call to our room with directions as to what we should do. They didn't answer the first two times, but picked up on the third attempt; no big deal, they were probably busy. All I got was "we're evacuating". We went outside, then the fire department gave us the "all clear" after about 15 minutes. They said it is a malfunction. We walked all the way back through to our room and got settled back in and the fire alarm went off AGAIN! Not much sleep that night to say the least... The next morning we went down to breakfast...the waitress was super nice and the food was good! There was no mention or apology for the night before when checking out...would...
